A: Yes, the rapid box and the rapid switch are the same size - all they changed was the back mounting plate receiver. The Diffusion and Eggcrate are the same. I own both the older rapid box and newer rapid box switch. I was also able to unscrew the back plate from the older rapid box and replace it with a new rapid box switch studio strobe insert when I changed from speed lights to studio mono lights. On the older boxes the strobe inserts are screwed in - on the newer switch boxes the strobe inserts pop on and off through a spring switch. The outside diameters of both the old and new strobe plates are the same size.
