Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there anyway to extend the remote cable to around 30m?

A: 30m would be pushing it. Since it is just discrete switches, you could theoretically extend the cabling if your good with soldering. I wouldn't go farther than 10-15m because the voltage drop would probably make operation unreliable.- Ian

Q: 2. Does the pan/tilt start out slow and smooth or is it more of a fast start that looks jumpy in the final video?

A: My experience is no. It is always same speed with same smoothness. However, if your equipment is heavy and unbalanced, due to weight balance point changes, your tripod strength becomes very critical.

Q: 3. Any problems to mount this whole unit sideways (vertically) for a wide vertical rotation range instead of horizontal?

A: This head is meant to mounted horizontally. It would be a custom operation to set up vertically. It may be possible, but it is not something we recommend.

Q: 4. Is it possible to control the pan tilt of this camera through software I create? In other words, does the SDK exist to control the angle?

A: no this particular pan and tilt unit does not come with an SDK or support that functionality

Q: 5. does this kit include the remote control?

A: yes it does!

Q: 6. Is this sturdy enough to ship on an airplane without a hard case?

A: Having shipped cinematography gear around the world, I would not shipped this item on an airline without a hard case.

Q: 7. does it come with a warranty?

A: Yes it does, this product includes a 90-Day Limited Warranty from Bescor. You will be able to add either a Square Trade 2 Year or 3 Year Extended Service Plan when checking out on our website to extend the warranty.

Q: 8. Will this support the weight of the S1-H and mounted Shogun?

A: It would be pushing the weight capacity once all batteries and accessories are mounted. It would only leave room for a lens that must come in below 1lb.

Q: 9. Does this device work only for panning or can it be used to change a camcorder position and hold it?

A: It has two modes; automatic and manual. In Automatic, you can set a range of pan, and it will continue to sweep back and forth. It also has a plug-in remote control with four arrows, up/down and left/right. If you set the mode to manual, you can use the remote control to pan or tilt, and the device stays where it is when you release the arrow key. There's also a speed adjust on the remote so you can change how fast it moves when you press the arrow.

Q: 10. Can you manually control pan and tilt with remote?

A: The control is a disk shaped joystick which can be used to pan and tilt the head/camera mount. The control is hard wired to the pan/tilt device. You can get a cable extension to lengthen it.
