A: There is no friction control on this tripod. It's either tight or loose. If the head is slipping after tightening, then the head may need an adjustment from Slik. You can however remove the head and substitute it for a more sturdy head.

A: It certainly will - I don't have a large camera body like that, but I have a 7D Mark II with a grip, so it's comparable. And, I shoot with a 100-400 mm lens (the 1st version, a push-pull zoom) fully extended. Using the tripod ring will keep the rig balanced, and the three-way head adjusts tightly, so you don't have to worry about the weight of your gear causing the setup to rotate quickly downward because of a loose connection. I find this tripod to be very sturdy; my only two wishes are 1) that it had spikes on the bottom, which it doesn't, and 2) that it had stabilizing braces in the middle to ensure all leg positions are consistent. The second of these is minor for the majority of my usage, but spikes would be really nice! (Don't expect the pan/tilt head to be really smooth - it's not suitable for video usage, generally, except maybe for a very loose level pan.)

It telescopes to a great height and can even go down to about 12 off the ground and the center column can be reversed so you can mount the camera inverted to get even closer to the ground. Great price for a super versatile and rugged tripod. You won't be disappointed!
