The Vixen Optics A80Mf 80mm f/11 Achro Refractor Telescope is designed with an achromatic lens system that produces bright and clear high-contrast images with true color representation across its entire distortion-free field of view. Its 80mm objective gathers more light than smaller-objective models while still being easy to handle and transport, especially when you have to carry it a distance to your observation site. This lens system, coupled with the fully coated optics, will give you great views of the Moon, planets, planetary moons, and brighter deep sky objects. You will be able to split binary stars and observe bright objects with virtually no comas.

The scope comes with two eyepieces that offer low and moderate magnifications, and a 90° erect-image prism that makes it ideal for both astronomical and terrestrial use. Vixen offers the A80Mf here without a mount or tripod for users with a reliable support system, and the included mounting ring set includes a Vixen-style dovetail plate that makes it compatible with a wide variety of alt-azimuth, equatorial, and GoTo mounting systems.

Q: 1. where can I buy a 12 volt battery pack for the telescope?

A: The Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 102AZ 102mm f/6.5 AZ Refractor Telescope BH #CESSEDX102R • MFR #22460 dose not use any batteries.

Q: 2. will this rrs 80mm fit on my silkballhead 800?

A: You would need a Reducer Bushing to make it work Oben 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 Reducer Bushing B&H # OB1039

Q: 3. Can I put a Celestron 8" SCT on the mount? - I know the Vixen is fine, but I wonder regarding the weight - the 8" SCT is about 5.5 KG.

A: The tripod will not handle the weight of the 8" SCT OTA

Q: 4. can you use a telescope camera on this? Like this one: ZWO ASI120MC-S Color Super Speed Camera - ASI120MC-S

A: Yes, you can use a telescope camera slipped into the 1.25" eyepiece mount in the Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 102AZ 102mm f/6.5 AZ Refractor Telescope.

Q: 5. Where are the telescopes that are PC Compatible. Or how can I transfer images from a non PC compatible telescope? Thank you!

A: This telescope does not have a camera built inside of it. You would need to either mount your camera you have onto the scope to photograph images. Or buy a CCD Imaging Device. Called the Celestron NexImage Solar System Eyepiece CCTV Imager. Website link to the imager: a href= http://bhpho.to/1Bgb5lc target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1Bgb5lc/a

Q: 6. I see there is a recommendation for a carry case for the tripod (Ruggard Deluxe Padded 42" Tripod Case). What would the recommendation be for a carry case for the OTA? Or does the OTA come in a case?

A: The Ruggard Deluxe Padded 42" Tripod Case (Black) should work with the OTA, as well as Mount/Tripod.

Q: 7. Can you use a nikon dslr to take images? the iphone itself?

A: One needs 2 adapters to mount a Nikon camera on the Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 102AZ 102mm f/6.5 AZ Refractor Telescope. On the telescope end, the Celestron SLR (35mm OR Digital) Camera Adapter for All Refractor and Reflector Telescopes which Accept 1.25" Eyepieces - Requires Camera-Specific T-Mount Adapter, BH #CETA1.25 (https://bhpho.to/3N8FQzy). And on the camera end, the Celestron T-Ring for Nikon F-Mount Cameras, BH #CETRN (https://bhpho.to/3n3FeAH). The smartphone mount that comes with the telescope is for alignment and such, it is not for imaging.

Q: 8. Can this be fitted on a Sirui L- 20S ...?

A: It technically can but it will be off center when you screw it onto the sirui basplate.

As with all RRS equipment, it is as good as it gets. I am using the RRS clamp with my Gitzo 5 series tripod to clamp my ARCA dovetails plates in order to allow for rapid switching between a CB gimbal and RRS ball head. It works like a charm!

This is quite large, and will work well for collared lenses with lens plates added, giving excellent stability and confidence.

I mounted this on my DCLW head  on my Manfrotto Tripod.  I also bought a Really Right Stuff Quick Release BJAE700 Rifle Plate and it fit and clamped good and tight.
I also bought a EntirelyCrimson Offset Keymod adapter plate and 2 MDT M-LOK ARCA RAILs (3.3) and they all were a hair too wide to close the clamp.  I returned them and bought 3 Magpul M-LOK® Dovetail Adapters and they clamped on perfectly.

I havent fired a rifle off of this clamp yet but I am sure it will hold tight.

I also have a 50mm I use on my Ronin S, and a 60mm along with this 80mm that I use on a Arca compatible rail with my Peak travel Tripod to mount two cameras and these work great with the Peak standard plates. Rock solid latch and confident my cameras are safe when locked.
