Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the A011 lens fit in the bag with the hood and the tripod mount attached?

A: Yes, it fits nicely with the tripod mount attached & the hood reversed.

Q: 2. What cables should I absolutely purchase with this?

A: I record from RODE wireless lav mics. So, a couple mini-plug to XLR adapters have come in handy.

Q: 3. Can I hook my Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun Microphone to the Zoom H5 recorder and record simultaneously?

A: Yes, the Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun Microphone can be connected to the Zoom H5 Portable Handy Recorder and used to record audio directly to the H5 Recorder.

Q: 4. Does this fit the Zhiyun-Tech Crane-2 3-Axis Handheld Stabilizer with Follow focus?

A: We're afraid not. This case is for the smaller Crane V2, which is a different gimbal than the Crane 2. The Zhiyun-Tech GMB-FC592 Case is the proper case for the Crane-2 Stabilizer. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1374681-REG/zhiyun_tech_gmb_fc592_case_for_crane_2.html

Q: 5. Does this kit come with all the batteries needed?

A: Yes, it comes with needed batteries. Great device. Excellent sound.

Q: 6. Previous Question: “Can I plug into a multbox or other conference room audio systems for clean audio?” How or which cables settings are needed to plug into audio mixer?

A: The Zoom H5 Portable Handy Recorder can be connected to a mult box (press box) using a standard XLR female to XLR male cable. The output signal on most press conference boxes is mic level or it may be switchable between mic and line level. Use the mic level input setting on the H5 and adjust the settings as you would when recording with any microphone. When recording the output from a mixer, the signal is going to be line level. The cables you will need are dependent on the output connections that are available on the mixer. It may be 1/4" TS or TRS, or RCA, but typically will have left and right outputs on the mixer, so you can connect to both XLR inputs on the H5.

Q: 7. Does this fit the WG-6 camera? It is listed as an accessory for the WG-6 but the description doesn't mention the WG-6.

A: Yes, the Pentax O-CC135 Camera Case for WG-3, WG-3 GPS, WG-4, WG-4 GPS Cameras is large enough for the Olympus WG-6. It will be a little squeeze.

Q: 8. Is there a protective cap for the module connnector on the H5 when not using a module? I'm asking in order to use the H5 with a shotgun mic and no module to reduce size and weight.

A: There is no protective cap included or available.

Q: 9. can the XYH-5 capsule be decoupled into a L/R mono, or does it always have to be in stereo?

A: I don't believe it can be decoupled, however if you have audio editing software you can separate the channels that way.

Q: 10. Does the Zoom H5 perform well as a field sound mixer?

A: I can't say anything bad about his device. I am not 100% happy with this. It has like background noise all the time. Is not perfect. Before I am using the sound usually I have to put the sound from the zoom in Soundforge to extract that field noise(Otherwise is not really good). After that is much better. For this money I think is the best option. When I bought it nobody said something about this field noise in the background. In the future i want to buy a more professional one. Something from Sound Devices. That one is 1600$. Sow it's a big difference. You get what you pay for. All the time.I hope my review it will help you to make a decision.
