Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How does this mount? I just got lens and hood, and I see no way to attach the lens hood. I have other hoods so not unfamiliar.

A: The Olympus LH-40B Lens Hood for M.Zuiko Digital 45mm f/1.8 Lens is a dedicated hood and is made specific for the M.Zuiko Digital 45mm f/1.8 Lens. And is a type of bayonet connection.

Q: 2. Is this lens hood usable for the Zuiko M4/3 14-42mm II zoom kit lens also?

A: Unfortunately, no, it is not. The Olympus LH-40B Lens Hood is only available for the for M.Zuiko Digital 45mm f/1.8 Lens; it is not compatible with the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II R Lens. You would need to purchase the Olympus - LH-40 Lens Hood for use with the Olympus M.Zuiko 14-42mm Lens (B&H# OLLH40).

Q: 3. I have a 37mm filter on mine. How does the thumbscrew work? And why does it say 46mm screw in hood if the lens only accepts a 37mm filter????Thanks

A: The hood attaches around the filter. The thumb screw pushes a semicircle band inside the diameter of the hood applying even pressure to hold it on. Its basically a clamp.

Q: 4. Does this fit the Sony Cybershot DSC-HX400v?

A: Hi Pat, unfortunately this lens hood is only compatible with Sony E 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS, E 35mm f/1.8 OSS, and FE 28mm f/2 lenses.

Q: 5. I have the M.Zuiko 25mm f1.8 and the lens says it is a 46. The spec sheet also says it is a 46. Is this for and older 25? Mine was made 2013.

A: Olympus only has one (1) Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f/1.8 Lens (Black),B&H # OL2518MB. The above lens does have 46mm front filter threads. The Olympus LH-49B Hood for M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f/1.8 Lens (Black), B&H # OLLH49BB, is the original replacement lens hood designed for use with and included with the purchase of the aforementioned Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f/1.8 Lens.

Q: 6. Will this fit a sony alpha 58?

A: Unfortunately, the camera model would not be the determining factor of whether this hood can work with it, as it depends on the lens mounted on there. This hood is specific to the E 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS, 35mm f/1.8 OSS, and FE 28mm f/2 lenses only which work on Sony E mount cameras.

Q: 7. Do you ship to australia

A: We do ship the Sony ALC-SH129 Lens Hood worldwide.

Q: 8. I've read a hood can reduce veiling on this lens on high-key scenes when you're wide open? Can anyone speak to that?

A: The more non-image light you can keep from striking the front lens element the better. This hood is designed to provide maximum protection from side light without cropping into the image. If the hi key light source is actually within the image you're framing the hood will have no effect on reducing flare or veiling.

Q: 9. i've heard one cannot put a filter on the lens, before the hood, but does it accept filters on the front of the hood? if so, what size? Thanks

A: 40.5 mm (via Hood) 49 mm (Front) W.O. Hood

Q: 10. This hood is reversible? (can be attached looking into the camera for easy storage)

A: Hi Hector! Yes the hood will fit reversed on the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4.

I replaced an inferior 70-300mm with the Nikon 70-300mm VR. I love the VR feature, which my previous lens did not have. At full zoom (300mm), the image is tack sharp.

I've waited awhile for lens, but worth the wait. Mainly used for shooting surfing this lens is simply amazing. It's price is way up there but you don't find many used long lenses for a reason.

This lens is a great value. I've used earlier zooms years ago that were bigger and bulkier and weren't nearly as fast on the auto focus. This lens is light and compact and fucuses instantaneously. I've used it mostly for wildlife and you can bet a hummingbird is not the easiest subject. I highly recommend this product.

After reading many reviews, I chose this lens until I can afford the much-coveted Nikkor 70-200 2.8. There's a known fuzziness at the max zoom point, but unless you're looking for it -- it is hardly noticeable. VR is magic! I can easily take hand-held pictures under conditions that would have otherwise require a tripod. However, the internal lens noise (rattle) that's involved with the VR kicking-in and out takes getting used to. It's worrying at first. I wish it came with a tripod collar like the one on the old 75-300; It's a heavy lens, and mounting it to take portrait images on the tripod is tricky -- the lens twists the camera down.

I love this lense! It's 18-55mm zoom is just what I need for taking pictures of my family indoors and outdoors. It takes great action pictures also.

I purchased this lense to photograph my granddaughter when she's skydiving (I'm on the ground..!!). This lense follows all the action with excellent quality.

I needed a better zoom for my kid's sports and this one works great (outdoor sports). I've also used it at an Indy race, close-ups of flowers, kid's eyeballs and capturing elusive camera shy friends/family in their natural habitat. The VR works fairly well and is worth the extra $. I've only had it a couple of weeks so I'm looking forward to future sports shots and don't anticipate any disappointments. Now if only my wife would let me spend money on a new camera bag....

i'm mastering when is best to use this, but for landscape shots thus far this has been fantastic. i've gotten more detailed photos than ever before, and the lens itself is really easy to attach and light weight. it was a great purchase.
