Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Why does it not have an on-off switch?

A: If you require an on/off switch on the mic, then the Sennheiser e835S Handheld Cardioid Dynamic Microphone with On/Off Switch, BH #SEE835S, would be the model for you.

Q: 2. why does it say only connect to 48v phantom power if it doesn't use it? I have a 15v phantom power mixer,

A: The Sennheiser E 835 is a dynamic mic that requires no phantom or external power.

Q: 3. Does this have a mute and on/off button ?

A: Yes, the Shure PGA48 Dynamic Vocal Microphone has an "On/Off" switch.

Q: 4. What is TA4S?

A: I assume you meant TA4F-- this is the type of connector on this microphone. Pretty sure it is a Shure proprietary connector, so you would want a mic with this if you're connecting to a Shure wireless system. They are small, round, and have 4 pins. Sometimes they're used for specialty wired mics as well.

Q: 5. How about feedback? Does it get much feedback?

A: No, the PGA58 is not prone to feedback. Its cardioid polar pattern focuses on the user's voice while rejecting unwanted background noise and delivers a clear and natural tone.

Q: 6. What adapter or cable can I use to connect this to a regular 3 pin XLR cable? Thanks

A: This PGA98H-TQG model is wired for connection to a Shure wireless transmitter. Although there is an adapter available, for XLR connection with phantom power, it will usually not be the most cost effective option: (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/619325-REG/Voice_Technologies_VT0137_VT1126_48V_Phantom_Power.html). Instead, I would recommend purchasing the version of this mic that is already made for a hardwired XLR connection. Our part number for it is SHPGA98HXLR and I am linking it below: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1128561-REG/shure_pga98h_xlr_pga_98h_clip_on_cardioid.html

Q: 7. Is it adjustable for the size of a 6-year old kid's head? if not can you suggest a headset for this age . many thanks.Bennet

A: We actually bought these microphones for a children's play to avoid entrusting 6 year olds to $400 countrymans. They are flexible, but there's no actual adjustment. We didn't have any fit issues with our kids though, and they worked perfectly for our application.

Q: 8. does this mic have an on/off switch?

A: No.

Q: 9. Does this mic have phantom power sensing? Can I plug it into a deck with active phantom power (via XLR)?

A: This is a dynamic microphone which does not require phantom power to operate. Plugging it into a mixer, speaker or other device that has phantom power engaged will neither enhance its performance nor damage it.

Q: 10. Does it need phanton power to work?

A: No, phantom power is not needed for dynamic microphones like the Shure 55SH.

I bought these because of the lower price and using them on location in did not want to use an expensive mic. I was blown away with the sound quality. Great job Shure.
