Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is in-camera focus stacking a feature on this camera?

A: Yes, it's one of the 4k photo modes. There's also focus bracketing, which takes multiple full-resolution images at different focus points.

Q: 2. Is there a AC adapter available For the GX85 to replace the battery?

A: As I understand your question, you are asking if one can use the GX85 firm an AC adapter in place of the battery. I see a little trap door in the battery cover through which such adapter, if it exists, would probably be connected to the camera (with the battery removed). I don't know if such adapter exists and I recommend that you contact Panasonic for this. If battery capacity is an issue for you, I suggest you buy extra batteries with external chargers, so you can always have a full spare (or two) available. In addition, since GX85 allows the battery to be charged inside the camera, you can connect an external battery pack (like the one used to charge smart phones) to the camera while the camera is stored in its bag. That way your camera battery will be fully charged when you need to use the camera. I hope this helps.

Q: 3. What if, like me, you already own a stack of m43 lenses. Is there a body only version?

A: At this time there isn't an option for the body only.

Q: 4. My G6 outputs RW2 at 72 dpi and JPG at 180 dpi. I need higher dpi for publishing, what does the GX85 output? Thanks.

A: DPI alone doesn't define publishers' needs. A 20x30 image at 100dpi has exactly the same resolution as a 10x15 at 200dpi, or a 2x3 image at 1000 dpi - all images are 2000x3000 pixels. Set the camera to Raw and the highest JPEG resolution and you'll get the maximum resolution the camera can deliver: 4592 x 3448 pixels. If the publisher wants the highest resolution possible, just convert the raw to TIFF or a 100% JPEG, and don't re-size the image when you export it.

Q: 5. I have tested shooting 4K video while on the AI+ setting. Is there a downside to shooting on this setting as opposed to putting it on the movie icon setting?

A: Using the dedicated movie mode will allow you to choose to choose Aperture priority, Shutter priority, or Manual mode.

Q: 6. How about I.S. with my Olympus lenses?

A: If your lenses have image stabilization, then the stabilization will work with the GX85.

Q: 7. How does exposure compensation work?

A: There's a dial under the right thumb. Press and turn to over/under expose while viewing the indicator in the viewfinder or on screen. Easy. I use it a lot. You can also use the front dial under the index finger to adjust the flash. There's a good page on the web if you search for GX85 exposure compensation for an illustrated explanation.

Q: 8. Does the body 5 axis image stabilization work with manual lenses?

A: Yes, the 5-axis In Body Image Stabilization in the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX85 Mirrorless Digital Camera is compatible for use with manual focus lenses.
