Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what type of amp is best for this mic and harmonica?

A: Many harmonica players like to use a microphone through a small combo amplifier designed for guitar to achieve a tone with a little more grit and dirtier tone than a standard PA speaker. Perhaps something like the Blackstar Debut 15E Stereo 15W Practice Guitar Amplifier (B&H # BLDEBUT15EBG) or the Roland CUBE-10GX Guitar Amplifier (B&H # ROCUBE10GX), or the VOX Valvetronix VT20X Hybrid Modeling 1x8 Combo Guitar Amplifier (B&H # VOVT20X).

Q: 2. How long is the flexible gooseneck ?

A: The Flexible gooseneck is about 3.3 inches in height.

Q: 3. Hi, what are the dimensions of the box that this comes in? Thanks

A: Hi, the Box Dimensions would be as follows 20 x 16 x 14.

Q: 4. Does it come with the standard three pin xlr connector or is it a mini xlr connector with an adaptor plug?

A: The Beta-98H/C features a 3 m (10 ft.) high-flex cable with attached preamplifier (XLR connection).If you are looking for a Beta98H/C to use with a wireless transmitter you should look at the WB98H/C. The WB98H/C features a 1.6 m (5.3ft) high-flex cable terminating in a 4-pin mini-connector.

Q: 5. What adapter or cable can I use to connect this to a regular 3 pin XLR cable? Thanks

A: This PGA98H-TQG model is wired for connection to a Shure wireless transmitter. Although there is an adapter available, for XLR connection with phantom power, it will usually not be the most cost effective option: (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/619325-REG/Voice_Technologies_VT0137_VT1126_48V_Phantom_Power.html). Instead, I would recommend purchasing the version of this mic that is already made for a hardwired XLR connection. Our part number for it is SHPGA98HXLR and I am linking it below: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1128561-REG/shure_pga98h_xlr_pga_98h_clip_on_cardioid.html

Q: 6. Does this have a mute and on/off button ?

A: Yes, the Shure PGA48 Dynamic Vocal Microphone has an "On/Off" switch.

Q: 7. Does it need phanton power to work?

A: No, phantom power is not needed for dynamic microphones like the Shure 55SH.

Q: 8. Does this mic have phantom power sensing? Can I plug it into a deck with active phantom power (via XLR)?

A: This is a dynamic microphone which does not require phantom power to operate. Plugging it into a mixer, speaker or other device that has phantom power engaged will neither enhance its performance nor damage it.

Q: 9. does this need another accessory?

A: This microphone includes a compatible cable. So it is ready to plug directly into an amplifier, etc.

Q: 10. Can I connect this to a computer? Is it good for recording audio tutorials? I need something simple and affordable.

A: Yes, I am very satisfied with mine.

I bought these because of the lower price and using them on location in did not want to use an expensive mic. I was blown away with the sound quality. Great job Shure.

The sound quality is great! I love the on off switch. It does make a little bit of noise when turning it on or off, but it's not that loud. It's similar to handling or ruffling noise.
