Un less your looking to upgrade to a full frame camera down the line. I would move in that direction if I had that Body.

Right now, not having had it long, I would rate at 5 stars. I have only shot a couple of assignments with this lens. The images look great. I have a Nikkor 17-35 2.8 that has been a workhorse. I still use it, but it is a heavy beast. I will continue to use it when I need something that wide. But, this is my new wide. It is sharp. It is light, at least much lighter than the 17-35. Like I said, so far, the shots look great. I am not a pixel peeper. I am not planning on doing an in-depth scientific study of this lens compared to others. I am a shooter. I want quality; this delivers. It does seem mostly plastic, but the glass is what matters. 5

For the price, this lens delivers great quality-rivaling the f/1.4! Good construction, fast performance, not too heavy. Excellent lens if youre looking for a reasonably affordable wide angle. 5

This was an upgrade to the 24mm 2.8D that I own, and I am impressed. You can get substantially closer to the subject with minimal barrel distortion, and the auto focus doesn't have to hunt so much. The lens seems to be sharper closer to f/4, but I have had many instances where I could open up a bit more and still maintain sharpness even though this isn't best practice The struggle with focus comes into play while shooting video. I would suggest developing a solution that routes into a reference monitor with focus peaking. When you shoot that wide, pulling focus is really difficult to nail down without some extra help. It's not the lens's fault, it's just the nature of the beast. In terms of image quality, if you own any of the f/1.8 G lenses, or the 105mm f/2.8 Macro, then you'll feel right at home. It may exist in special circumstances, but I haven't noticed any chromatic abbaritions yet with my style of shooting. I currently own a 24mm 2.8D, 50mm 1.8G, 85mm 1.8G, and a 105mm 2.8 Macro, and this 24mm 1.8G has not left this D610 body since the moment I first mounted it. It's one of my favorite lenses, and I have no regrets about that. Today, my arsenal seems that much more complete. 5
