Q: 5. Will this work in a Bell & Howell Filmosonic 1223, Super 8 Movie Camera?
A: Yes!
Q: 6. how long this last?
A: Super 8mm 50ft cartridges yield about 3600 frames, which provides a run time of 3min 20 sec at 18frames per second, or 2min 30sec at 24frames per second. The processed film when transferred to a video/digital format will yield about 3min for films shot at 18fps and 2min 30sec for those exposed at 24fps and transferred with a 5-bladed shutter system. The 18fps films can also be transferred for a run time of 3min 20sec but not all labs can offer this. Although, the digital files can be speed adjusted in post processing using computer software; either yours or the labs. Higher frame rates while filming which will run the film out quicker, will still yield the same playback time, since high speed filming is to create slow-motion effects upon playback.
Q: 7. Will this work with Kodak Brownie automatic?
A: The Kodak Brownie Movie camera is an 8mm, not a Super 8 camera and thus cannot take this film. Q: 10. Hello, can u tell me if i am filming KODAK 50D with eumig mini 3 zoomreflex (daylight 25-100ASA artifical 40-160ASA), is pin have to be pushed-in like i was filming with a kodachrome 40 type A when i am putting a cartridge into a film chamber?...what kind was a filmstock kodachrome 40 type A??..daylight or artifical? Are the settings the same like with kodak 50D ...i mean the pin thing (pushed-in or not pushed-in)??...thanks
A: Part of what you are asking is a camera-specific question, but I think I can offer a few words of advice to help you. The old Kodachrome 40 Type A film was balanced for 3400 degrees Kelvin, which is informally called Tungsten and best thought of as indoor lighting. There used to be photo-flood light bulbs made for the amateur filmmaker market that produced a 3400 degree Kelvin color temperature. The old amateur Super 8 cameras used to have an 85A filter built in to the camera. Normally, old Super 8 cameras would have this 85A filter actively in place in the light path. Often times a Super 8 camera would come with a filter key that you could insert in the camera in order to remove the 85A filter from light path. Outdoor light has a color temperature somewhere around 5200 degrees Kelvin. To shoot Kodachrome 40 Type A film outdoors, a person would need to have the 85A filter in place in the light path of the camera in order to change the 5200 degree outdoor light to match the 3400 degree film. The addition of the 85A filter in the light path had the side-effect of dropping the ASA from 40 down to 24. To shoot Kodachrome 40 Type A indoors with 3400 degree photo-flood bulbs, a person would normally insert the filter key to retract the 85A filter (because the light source already matched the film type and therefore you didn't need the 85A filter). Note that in the old days, a lot of us amateurs didn't bother to procure proper 3400 degree photo-flood lights; we just used regular ole household, incandescent tungsten light bulbs. Regular old household, incandescent light bulbs were not 3400 degrees Kelvin. That is why home movies shot indoors with Kodachrome 40 Type A film had a slightly warm , yellowish-orange cast to them. The important things to be aware of is that Kodak Vision 50D film is 1) daylight balanced and 2) it is a color NEGATIVE film. Kodachrome 40 Type A, on the other hand, was color REVERSAL film. BIG DIFFERENCE!!! Good luck.
