The forest green camo Lens Cover from LensCoat is designed to fit a Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM autofocus lens. It covers the lens with a 100% closed-cell neoprene coat that protects the lens from minor bumps and scratches. Ideal for nature and outdoor photographers, and for sports shooters and photojournalists, the cover helps break up the shape of the lens, making it less noticeable to wildlife and more comfortable to hold. It provides a thermal barrier to protect your hands from the cold lens surface when you are shooting in low temperatures. The cover is waterproof and provides protection in inclement weather. This classic Forest Green Camouflage pattern is ideal for general use in wooded areas.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this lens work with D7000?If not what lens would you recommend?

A: The AF-S 16-35mm f/4G VR lens will be fully compatible with the D7000, yes.

Q: 2. Is this lens weather sealed?

A: yes it is and this is confirmed on the Nikon USA website as well as in full reviews by Photography Life and DP Review. I live in Ireland where we get more rain than most and in my experience with this lens over the past 12 months I can confirm it has very effective weather sealing. It is very sharp and the addition of VR means this lens can be used in very low light without the need for a tripod. It is also very sharp across all focal lengths.

Q: 3. Is this lens compatible with a Nikon D5100 camera?

A: The Nikon AF-S 16-35mm f/4 VR lens is fully compatible with the Nikon D5100. This lens is compatible with every Nikon DSLR , and any Nikon SLR that can control aperture through the camera body.

Q: 4. Does this lens produce in camera flash shadow mounted in to a D810?

A: I use this lens on a D750, not D810, but hope this helps. Since I rarely use on-camera flash at all and have never used it with this lens, I just did a bit of testing so I'd know. The lens manual says that built-in flash can't be used for distances less than 0.6m (2.0 ft). It also says to prevent vignetting, do not use the hood. It does not mention shadow. When I used the hood with the flash, I discovered a round, mounded black blob at the center bottom of photos when I shot closer than about 2-1/2 feet (shadow of one of the pedals of the hood, I assume). The size of the mound depended on how close the camera was to the subject, with the largest closer than 1-1/2 feet. (I shot all these at 35mm, f/16.) To check for vignetting (and the shadow blob), I shot flash photos using the hood in a darken room that has pale pink walls and white ceiling. The depth of the scene extended about 6 to 10 feet from the camera. The lighting was uneven and I shot at a high ISO. I expected uneven shadowing and noise, but was pleasantly surprised at how clean the shots were, considering. I shot 16mm, 20mm, 24mm, 28mm, and 35mm each at f/4, f/8, and f/16. The photos did not have mounded blobs or any other indication of hood shadows. What I discovered was that the amount of vignetting followed the same general pattern I have experienced without the flash. The wider the angle of the lens and the larger the aperture, the greater the vignetting. For the most part, Lightroom's lens correction function eliminated the vignetting just as it does for photos done without flash. (16mm or 18mm at f/4 sometimes don't get totally corrected, however.)

Q: 5. Is this lens compatible with the Nikon D850?

A: Yes! The D850 has such high resolution that it requires very sharp lenses to get the most from the camera. Many aftermarket lenses (and even a few older Nikkor lenses) are just not sharp enough for the D850. This lens pairs very well with the D850.

Q: 6. I'm debating between this lens and the Tamron 15-30 f2.8. Would you say this lens is as sharp as the Tamron (or sharper)? I don't think I need the extra speed the Tamron offers for landscapes, but I'm thinking being able to use a filter on the Nikon might be a plus. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A: Haven't used the Tamron but the Nikon is really sharp. I use a 77mm polarizer on it quite often. It is the sharpest lens I've used for landscapes and architecture. There is a bit of distortion at 16mm but Lightroom does a pretty good job of correcting. A lot of times I'll just crank it to 18-20mm and the distortion is much less.

Q: 7. Compatible with the D7200?

A: Yes but will be 24-52 lens with crop sensor camera. I have used on D500 in addition to full frame. Love that it accepts a 77mm filter.

Q: 8. Is this lens made in China or Thailand or somewhere else?

A: As per our records, this lens is currently made in Venezuela. Please note that this is subject to change at any time. As you can see from other replies, older versions were made in Japan or Thailand.

Q: 9. What is the warranty and can you get it serviced in the United States?

A: One year that extends to 5 when you register the lens. It's a nikon USA lens so you can get it serviced in the United States.

Q: 10. how are the vertical lines when at 16mm?... I shoot a lot of real estate, and my 14mm has even driving me crazy with editing time

A: There is a lot of distortion at 16mm, but if you shoot jpeg with the latest firmware, the distortion is corrected in camera. The 20mm f/1.8G has very low distortion if 20mm is wide enough for your purposes.

Very sharp at all apertures. Great for street and landscape photography. Added bonus is the image stabilization. Unlike earlier Nikon wides with a bulging lens, you can use filters with this one.

The nikon 16-35 is WIDE, and I love it. Is not heavy like other high pro glasses, its really sharp even wide open. The bokeh is not bad at all, even though is f/4, it has a really good bokeh. The only thing that I complain is the f/4, but if it was a 2.8 or sth it will be more expensive! The Focus is amazingly fast, is really sharp and the VR is unbelievable A superb piece of glass!

Was on the fence on whether to buy this lens or the 17-35mm and took a swing at the 16-35 figuring I would return if I didn't like the results. Anyway, two weeks have past and I haven't thought twice about returning. The lens is sharp as a tac and on the light side but does lack the rugged feel that the 17-35mm has. Great for landscape and I've already gotten some great news photos. The optics are out of this world and worth every penny.

Used this lens to shoot the lunar rainbow at Yosemite and was able to get the distant subject and the reflection in flood water at my feet. Very nice! It's longer than I would expect, but its design certainly pays off in sharpness.
