Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What are the dimensions?

A: The dimensions of the case are 21 x 8 x 10 and it weighs 6 pounds. The pouch is an accessory component that goes inside the case that can also be used separately. It is 18 x 11 wide at its narrowest point.

Q: 2. Would this be able to take Canon XF200 with gun mic attached, plus a 15 Macbook Pro, AND be carry-on for flights? (Yes I de-mount mics and batts for transit, but want the one working bag...) Thanks

A: You can actually fit (quite snugly) a 15 Macbook Pro laptop in the side pocket, it just takes a bit of finesse. I regularly travel with a 13 Macbook Pro and a Panasonic AC-160 camera around the US. It won't fit under your seat because it is too long. You have to cram it in the overhead bin if your in a smaller domestic plane, but I've never had to check my bag. There are also two rigid foam slats that hold the bag upright. In a pinch I was able to take these out and fit 2 AC-160s back to back in the main compartment. But I couldn't fit a laptop in them at the same time. But to answer your question, I am right now able to test with my work 15 Macbook Pro and it will fit in the side. I used to use a generic bag that would actually fit under my seat, but it wasn't protecting my camera as much. I like this new bag and it is very sturdy, and it doesn't hurt my shoulder when carrying long distances like my old bag did.Best,Lane Wyrick

Q: 3. I need a case to keep my Blackmagic Cinema Camera rigged with rails and matte box, for storage and car transport. Any extra items (lenses, cards, etc.) I can fit are a bonus--the main concern for me is fitting the rigged camera. The matte box is 11 wide, and the bag dimensions are listed as 8 wide. My question is, how flexible is the bag width? Since this is not a hard case, I assume there's some play here. Thanks!

A: I have a Black Magic Production Camera. It barely fits the camera and rails. Not sure you can get the box or the lens in there. Because of the quality of the bag, there's not a play or stretch to be had.

Q: 4. what is the weight capacity of this bag? I am looking to store 2x mkh50's w/ pistol grip, 3x 25' XLR cables (roughly under 15lbs

A: The PortaBrace CS-DV4 Camcorder Case (Blue) can easily accommodate 15lbs. It should be good to 30 lbs.

Q: 5. Is the zip open lid padded?

A: 3/16 of stiff foam inside the lid. Not much, but it's not just fabric.

Q: 6. Will this bag work with Blackmagic 6k G2 with battery grip and Sigma 18-35 f1.8, Sigma 50-100 f1.8 and Tokina 11-16 mm lens?

A: The best way to work would be to stage your equipment as you would like packed in the case. The interior size of the case is 21.8 x 9 x 9". However, yes the case should fit your lenses and camera.

Q: 7. Does this meet Airline carry on bag dimensions?

A: Unfortunately it does not. Carry-On size tends to be 22 x 14 x 9" and this bag is well over that at 27.0 x 15.0 x 14.5".

Q: 8. Will the Canon c200 fit inside with the zipper closed?

A: You have to take the camera apart to put the C200 in this bag. This is the bags downfall.

Q: 9. What is the interior color on the extra height version?

A: The PortaBrace CAR-3CAMT Cargo Case Camera Edition has a gray interior.

Q: 10. Will this hold a JVC GY HM600U?

A: I use this case with my Sony X180, which is LARGER than the HM600, and it fits with room to spare. I haven't physically put one of my stations HM650's in it, but they feel like tiny skinny toys compared to the fat beefy X180.

I use this case for my JVC GY-600. Don't live and die by the dimensions, there is some wiggle room and the velcro tie down strap keeps the camera from shifting in transit. It fits the camera even with the BEC receiver bracket mounted on the bottom along with accessories like headphones, charger, AC,3 batteries, SD cards, light, power strip, small flashlight, gaff tape with plenty of room to spare !! The main compartment opens with zippers on either side and along with the bright colored fabric everything is easy to see at a glance without having to hold it open as opposed to having the zipper in the center. The shoulder strap is comfortable and the clasps swivel 360. The bottom is all rubber which grips very well to most any surface keeping the bag upright. There are no feet on the bottom but it's not a big deal, since most of my work is indoor. All in all it's a great little bag with plenty of storage space. Can't think of anything negative to say except the freebee flashlight didn't work from the get go but I didn't buy it for that reason anyway, so 5 stars it is. Hope this review helps.

I used Porta Brace cases 20 years ago, as they were the standard gear in remote TV production. I recently purchased this case for my personal camera, and was happy to see the quality of Porta Brace products is still top notch. Brian

The bag is a bit larger than I expected, probably not a carry-on but for holding a pile of gear it's been great so far. The inside is ready for all your velcro dividers. Before this I had a mish-mash of mixed bags and cases and after sorting all my gear I had room left over in this bag. It's built very well with strong stitching and mine came with two little bonuses, a white balance card and a carabiner flashlight. Pretty cool.

I bought this in hopes to put my entire rig system together for transport and I think it will do the trick! Lots of room inside!

I had to return the Porta Brace Semi-Rigid Cargo-Style Camera Case for the Porta Brace CAR-3CAM Cargo Case for my Panasonic HC-X1. I needed the extra width so I could store my camera with the boom mic attached. This case is big enough for my camera with headset and battery accessories inside. The color handles and strap are actually gray. (which I like better than the tan version)

Everything you want from a cam bag: durability inside and out, a water proof bottom, high quality but low profile, made in the USA, reputable company. I don't have a single issue with this bag. Even the zippers are enjoyable because you know they will perhaps out-live you. Made for the professional. Don't waste your time with a comparably sized bag from another brand that is cheaper. You get way more than what you pay for with this.
