Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. In the menu of this camera is their literally no Application tab to enable Playmemory app downloads to this camera?

A: Hello Chris, no the RX10 IV does not support downloadable apps.

Q: 2. HOW CAN I CONTROL THIS CAMERA BY MY SAMSONG SMART PHONE?

A: See SONY expert answer

Q: 3. How capable is this camera when shooting birds-in-flight during the first hour after sunrise? I am coming from use of a Canon 5DIV with big white lenses shot at f4.

A: My wife and myself have compared side by side. The comparison was with the Sony DSC-RX 10 IV and Canon 6D II (with 100-400 mm lens) photographing birds, sort of informal evaluation. We found Sony doing a remarkably good job, similar to Canon in bright day conditions. The Sony sensor, however, seems to be a bit noisier than that of Canon, so I am skeptical that your tall order (birds in flight at dawn) could be adequately filled by this camera. Another thing to keep in mind about the Sony is that it takes quite a bit of learning. In our case we are not yet at a point where we can confidently use it for quality tracking birds in flight.

Q: 4. Does it have a Multi-Interface Shoe?

A: Yes, the Sony DSC-RX10 IV has a multi-interface (MI) shoe!

Q: 5. If I use HDR, how many photos are put on my card - just the "composite" of the overexposed shot and the "composite"?

A: The unit shoots three images using different exposures and combines the images to the final merge.

Q: 6. Can this Sony RX10 IV be charged directly through its USB-C port to a Power Bank? Thanks!

A: Yes a USB power bank can be used to charge the RX10 IV.

Q: 7. Does the Rx10M4 use the live Cyber shot sensor,

A: Sony lists the senor in the RX10 IV only as, 20MP 1"-type stacked BSI-CMOS sensor.

Q: 8. do i need a separate battery charger?

A: As Sony has mentioned, a power cable can be connected to the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 IV Digital Camera with Accessory Kit, to charge the battery, however, a stand alone charger is separate. We recommend the Sony BC-TRW W Series Battery Charger (Black) B&H # SOBCTRW.

Q: 9. RX10 IV is there a clean output?

A: The Sony DSC-RX10 IV has clean HDMI output. You may have to configure this behavior in the menu during initial setup. In the menu, go to Setup (yellow briefcase) - page 3/6 HDMI Settings - HDMI Info. Display - set to "off".

Q: 10. I am a semi pro and own 2 Canon DSLR's, the Canon SX60, an advanced Panasonic compact and multiple lenses and flash guns. What they all have in common is a fairly detailed pdf manual easy to navigate to the topic you want with good illustrations, all also on my iPad for easy access even without WiFi. The only pdf manual I have found for the RX10 IV is much less detailed, few illustrations and does not come close to being a good manual. The web help site is better, but requires WiFi. I bought the Alex White Kindle book which is ok, but does not work like a good pdf manual. I should add that this is my first Sony. Is there a better downloadable pdf manual that I have somehow missed?

A: There is an ebook by Gary Friedman (that's me) that is said to be the best and most comprehensive out there. It was written for people like you who crave to have things explained properly.
