A: The orientation of this head will not effect the weight that it can support. While upside down, this head will still support 33lbs. Make sure that your tripod is securely locked though and can handle the weight of your setup.

A: It depends on type of travel, how long, shooting needs, I would bring this instead of golf clubs. I do much better with the tripod than clubs, and better golf shots with it!

A: Typically you just unscrew the head from the legs. Make sure the panning lock is tight, then unscrew, there maybe some grub screws below the head platform, in which case the must be backed out in order to remove the head.

Q: 7. Will my Manfrotto 500PL Quick Release Plate fit on this ball head? ((not the 501PL ))

A: The 500PL will work, but you will have to slide it into place instead of snapping in from the top.

A: The top base plate has a male 3/8" and a set of grub screws for securing a Manfrotto pan/tilt or ball head there. The bottom of the column has a loop by which you can attach a counterweight.

A: Yes. I have a Kessler crane that I use with these sticks. The great thing about this tripod is the adjustable spreader. You can get the legs splayed way out to make it very stable for cranes and sliders.

A: Yes, it will. It has a flat base with a 3/8 male screw. The good thing on this tripod is that you can lower it to a 16.9 height, the bad one it's weight: 9.5 lb. Too heavy to carry-on all day. Setup time in sloping terrains will take longer than a tripod with ball head.
