The Tiffen 105mm Coarse Thread Fog 1/8 Filter simulates the effects of natural fog or mist by creating a soft glow around highlights and lowering the overall contrast of the scene. There can also be a softening effect due to how the light interacts with the subject matter. The 1/8 density provides the least amount of fog effect and requires no exposure compensation.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

Q: 1. I have a 50D Canon, will this lens work for general and landscape photography. Or can you suggest another lens.

A: This lens is fully compatible with the 50D, however with the 1.6x magnification factor, the 24mm wide angle focal (now about 38mm) is not sufficently wide for impressive landscapes. For the 50D I would recommend Canon's 17-55mm f2.8 IS lens, which would give you the wide angle aspect for landscapes and provide you with a nice portrait focal and a fast/constant f2.8 aperture. See the link below for details on the lens:http://bhpho.to/1eZavst

Q: 2. I'm looking to upgrade the standard EFS 18-55 lens that came with my Rebel Ti3. I read the previous post. Would the same issues apply to the Ti3? If so, can you recommend a better lens for all around, general photo taking? Thank you.

A: Yes. The 1.5x crop factor would also apply to the T3i, or any other camera which features an APS-C sized sensor. To give you a wide-angle option, I would recommend something like the Canon 17-55mm f/2.8. This lens will give you a zoom range that is similar to the 18-55mm lens, but with a much faster aperture. This would allow better exposure in low-light, and more pronounced shallow depth-of-field (background or foreground blur). You can see it here:http://bhpho.to/1jlOUiD

Q: 3. Does this work with the D780 or not? There are two compatibility charts and it's only on one of them...

A: The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED Lens is compatible with the Nikon D780 camera.

Q: 4. will this fit a Canon EOS Mark ii?

A: The Canon 24-105mm f/4 lens is fully compatible with every Canon EOS SLR and DSLR, including the 5D II, 1D II, 1DS II, Elan II, and Rebel II.

Q: 5. Does this lens work with the FTZ adapter for Z series cameras?

A: The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED Lens is fully compatible with the Z series cameras and the Nikon FTZ2 adapter.

Q: 6. Does that lens fully work (all apertures) with a SLR Nikon F6?

A: Unfortunately, as the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED Lens uses a new electromagnetic aperture design, you would not be able to adjust the aperture of the lens when connected to the older Nikon F6 35mm Film SLR Camera. The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED Lens' aperture can only be controlled when used on the following cameras: D5, D4 series, D3 series, Df, D850, D810, D810A, D800 series, D750, D700, D610, D600, D500, D300 series, D7500, D7200, D7100, D7000, D5600, D5500, D5300, D5200, D5100, D5000, D3400, D3300, D3200, D3100, Nikon 1 J1, J2, J3, J4, J5 with FT-1, Nikon 1 V1, V2, V3 with FT-1, Nikon 1 S1, S2 with FT-1.

Q: 7. How this lens compare to the 85 1.8 ?. Difficult to compare between f/1.4 and F/1.8, any direct experience ?

A: Before getting into quality differences between the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED Lens and the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G Lens, a very significant different is the focal length. The perspective from a 105mm lens is different than that from a 85mm lens. This is very much dependent on personal preference and specific application. Aside from this, there are a few benefits to the 105mm. A Nano Crystal Coat has been applied to lens elements to minimize surface and internal reflections for a marked reduction in lens flare and ghosting. Specialized electromagnetic aperture mechanism provides greater exposure control stability that is especially beneficial when working with fast continuous shooting rates, though double check that your camera is compatible with lenses that have this. The 105mm has a better build quality overall. The f1.4 aperture with the longer focal length will provide a shallower depth of field than is possible on the 85mm lens. Overall the 105mm f/1.4E is optically better than the 85mm f/1.8G lens.

Q: 8. Even though not mentioned, can this lens be defined as a true apochromatic lens? (not the Sigma definition, but the Zeiss, Cosina or Switar definition??

A: No, Nikon does not list it as a true apochromatic lens.

Q: 9. I am considering buying the 24-100mm L series f4 IS lens. Based on reviews it is an excellent lens particularly with the 50D. I have also seen reviews complaining of 'lens creep' with this lens.I have a Rebel Ti1 and a 15-85mm lens which has lens creep and it is annoying and problematic.I think the 24-105mm is the best all round every day lens to have in the bag, always on the camera. I do not want this 'creeping' problem with an expensive L series lens although I know the image quality will be good.Should I be really concerned with this potential problem? How many users find it an issue?

A: For me its a small issue.

Q: 10. Where can I find an Instruction manual for this Canon EF 23-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens?

A: Dear Shopper, if you are using other Canon EF lens your really do not need an instruction manual for this 24-105 lens... you just need to use the lens... I have 5 lens and i will tell you that I use this lens the most.. it has the capability of capturing the scene up close and far away,,, so I think you will be quite happy with this lens.

I use this lens with my Infrared 720nm converted Sony a6000. Many of Sony's lenses are prone to hot spots when shooting infrared, but I found this lens to be excellent for infrared use. At 24mm there were no issues with hot spots all the way through f11. Minor hotspotting begins to occur at f16 and above but it's easily corrected in post. At 105mm there are no hot spots through f8 and only minor hotspotting at f11. The lens is very sharp, particularly in the middle, but still very decent in the corners.

If youre in search of your first Sony lens this one will give the most bang for your buck. The versatility of this lens cant be beat, great for photos and video both. I have used mine for vlogging and a lot of sports photos. The only issue I have is it adds a lot of front end weight but its overlooked in my eyes for the other benefits.

This lens is very versatile. If I need an only one lens for traveling, I would take this one! It is not the sharpest lens for the APSC Sony e-mount cameras, but it is fine.

Bought to replace the 16-50 kit lens.  Sharp.  Fast-focusing.  True colors.   Not too heavy--actually steadier than the kit lens.

I love this lens! Works great for my video needs and versatile!
Currently using with my Sony a6400 and is perfect for my run and gun style, especially if Im covering an event. This lens offers OSS (Optical SteadyShot Image Stabilization) and performs well for video. Sample photos ive uploaded are shot with Sony a6400 with picture profile 1.

Not sure why I didnt buy this along with the FS5II.  Once I had it, I wonder how I got along without it.  Switching lenses from the 24-70 to the 70-200, no motorized zoom.  I should have bought it sooner.  F4 is the only bummer, but the camera is so clean that bumping up ISO is not a problem.  Love it.

Great lens for the money. All the focal lengths I need. I just wish I could have a little more of the wide range. But it performs quite well even in low light.

When I switched from 16-55mm to this lens I wasn't expecting that big of a difference. Very sharp even at the longer end. I was'n sure about the f4 at the beginning but the IQ makes up for it. When you shoot at a distance it gives you smooth bokeh as well.

The E PZ 18-105mm f/4 G OSS Lens works perfectly with my Sony A6000. I spent a day reading about and watching video reviews. This day of studying paid off! Clicked this lens on to my A6000 body and now... my photography life has heightened. I may occassionally still use my original Sony 35mm (which I purchased for portrait use) but this 18-105mm excels in some ways for portrait use too! The 18-105mm is superb for video use, too, according to my research. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
