Q: 1. I recently got this. When scanning negatives, it scans then stops on every negative until I click the mouse. How can I get it to scan all ?

A: Unfortunately that is the nature of this scanner.

Q: 2. What are the primary differences between the Epson Perfection V550 and the Epson Perfection V600? Thanks

A: The general specifications of the two are about the same, the major difference in the two is the software included with each. The V600 comes with more programs to work with and they are overall better programs, including the following: Epson Scan with Epson Easy Photo Fix technology, Epson Event Manager, Epson Copy Utility, Adobe Photoshop Elements 9, ABBYY FineReader Sprint Plus OCR, and Digital Ice. The V550 only comes with Epson Scan with Epson Easy Photo Fix and ABBYY FineReader Sprint Plus OCR. The one thing the V550 can do which the V600 cannot is batch scanning. It can scan: 35 mm Film Strip at 12 frames at a time, 35 mm Slides 4 slides at a time, and 6 cm Medium Format: Up to 22 cm at a time.

Q: 3. I'm trying to decide between the Canon Canoscan LIDE and the Epsom. Anyone have any experience with the Canon? After years of use, my Canon scanner is breaking and I'm so sorry to see it go. I especially loved the slim size. No bulky lid like the Epsom. Is the Epsom that good? (I scan a lot of historic b&w and color prints, all sizes) Thank you!!

A: Epson does a very good job , you can also scan film with V600

Q: 4. Will the Epson V600 work with an iMac with 10.15.2 (Catalina)? if not, what do I do?

A: According to Epson, upgrading to macOS 10.15 Catalina requires the install of the Epson Scan 2 driver which can be downloaded on the support page for V600. They also note that this version of the driver doesn’t included Digital ICE and the SilverFast SE driver/utility is being provided which has Infrared Dust and Scratch removal to use in lieu of Digital ICE.

Q: 9. I'm not the best at getting negatives or pictures perfectly straight on a scanner (things move as I close the lid) is there a holder device included?

Q: 10. How well does this scanner work on pictures that have texture? In the past, scanners have made them look like it has noise across the entire image.

A: Scanners like the Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner are not ideal for any kind of texture--the extremely shallow depth of field doesn't show texture well.
