Patterns, or gobos, are widely used by designers in theatre, film, photography and television to create atmosphere, project scenery, and generally enhance the visual impact of their lighting.

Conceived by some of the world's leading lighting designers, the Rosco range presently includes hundreds of standard steel gobo designs.

To insure design integrity the patterns are etched using a precise double-sided process on stainless steel. The result is durable, high quality patterns which will withstand the extreme heat at the gate of ellipsoidal spotlights.

Rosco steel gobos are round to allow for rotation in the gate when aligning the projected image.

The standard "B" size is suitable for most fixtures with a 6" lens when used with a Rosco Pattern Holder or the holders of other manufacturers.

Trimming of patterns, where necessary, can be easily accomplished with a pair of scissors.

Bought this ball head to use in place of a ball head I use for macro photography. For the price, this is a solid piece of equipment and works very well. I like that it can be used to take panos by loosening one knob and has a built in leveling bubble. Overall a nice ball head that does very well for its small size.

I think it week be fine.  Great build quality,  I only wish I got the one bigger size.  This will work though.  My biggest lens is a 70-200.

Doing a little research before picking up a Platypod, I saw Scott Kelby using one of these on an Ultra... I now have the same setup.

It works great, is lightweight, and fits into my admittedly overstuffed ProTactic 450.

The largest lens that Ill put on it will be one of my 70-200 2.8s...but theyll generally be close to the ground or other flat-ish surface, with me next to it, but I dont expect it to topple anyway.

Theres no friction knob, but given my intended use thats not a deal breaker. And one less knob/function helps keep the weight (& cost) down as well.

The Arca clamp works well with my RRS gear including L brackets & lens foot. As much as I love my BH-55...its MUCH heavier and seriously more expensive. For my intended use, I think it would be difficult to find anything better in the price range.

I purchased the Oben BE-117 after reading lots of reviews, checking my budget, and deciding on the weight requirements that would handle most of my future needs. This is my first ball head mount, so I can not compare it to other ball heads. The BE-117 package that I received (on time and in good shape) included the head, a QR-20 mounting plate, 3/8x1/4 inch adapter, hex key, and instructions. I also purchased an extra QR-20 spare mounting plate for future use. Both mounting plates came with d-ring type camera mounting screws which is something I really like. The mounting plate has three positioning slots with one end of each slot threaded for camera mounting screw repositioning. Humm, that wasn't mentioned in the instructions. The only downside that I can see with the mounting plate is with the two hex head screws sticking out from the bottom. Those two screws fit into the mount base slots to prevent the plate from sliding off a loose clamp. A fair trade off in my opinion. Okay on to the BE-117. With the mounting plate there are 3 hard plastic knobs. The top knob is for the plate clamp. Two half twists for tightening and clamping. Middle knob is the main tensioning knob with white numbers on a blue ring. There is a fine white dotted rectangle between 9 and 10 to easily mark the sweet spot for tensioning and still being able to move the camera and it seems to work for me. The bottom knob is for panning. This is the only point problem point that I have noticed. The amount of knob twist between lock down and pan is very small, and that is okay, but pan movement is bumpy and can lock up. Just a smidgen back off on the pan side and it smooth with just a small amount of resistance. It isn't a game changer for me by any stretch, but it is something I noticed early on. If this unit was fluid pan head I would send it back, but it's not. Bottom line, I will be purchasing another Oben BE-117 in the near future.

Very well made ball head at a fraction of the price of its European competitor. I use it with my mirrorless system & monopod.

My first foray into ball heads, this one works very well. No issues with loosening. The quick-release works as expected and it's easy to level.

Surprisingly capable, inexpensive ball head. Used with a 5D and a 70-200 lens on a Platypod. Very easy to position.
