Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this mic work with my Sony PCM M10?

A: The PZM 30D requires phantom power 12 - 48v to operate. This unfortunately can not be provided by the PCM-M10 recorder and similar recorders that feature only a 1/8 input connection.

Q: 2. It says nothing about power. Is it Phantom power? Or battery operated?

A: Yes, the AKG PZM30 D Hemispherical Boundary Layer Microphone does require 12 to 48V of phantom power.

Q: 3. Will this work on a carpeted stage or floor?

A: This is designed for hard surfaces. Mounting to a carpeted surface will affect the performance of this mic severely.

Q: 4. where do you connect power to the pzm 11?

A: Power is connected to the two power screw- terminals on the rear of the device under the chassis cover.See the supplied .pdf spec and schematic sheet provided below: http://bit.ly/1K5ryYO

Q: 5. Will this capsule fit/work with an AKG C460B preamp section?

A: This capsule is only compatible with AKG GN series and LM3 housings.

Q: 6. What is the effective range for this microphone? I.e. on a stage 15 feet deep and 40 feet wide, how many of these would we need (sic how few could I get away with )?

A: Our stage is 28 feet deep by 40 feet wide. We use 3 floors mics.

Q: 7. I need a hypercardioid mic for interior dialogue recording on a boom pole. Is it possible the this mic can deliver in such a task? Or is it too heavy. Too bulky? Thanks.

A: I use this mic in our studio on a C-stand and hand held for street interviews. I do have some shoots coming up in August where I am going to purchase a boom for it. It's definitely bulkier than a choir mic, but I love the sound (don't forget to put the hypercardioid adapter on it that comes in the box).Hope that helps,Jeff

Q: 8. Does this have a MiniXLR male or female connector on it?

A: Female

Q: 9. Will it work with a Tascam recording device?

A: I am not aware of any Tascam recorders that will connect to this microphone. This mic is designed to work with AKG Wireless Transmitters only.

Q: 10. is this microphone suitable for an opera singer that is a person with a large voice?M.

A: the AKG C11LP is designed for use in speech and light theater application. For strong vocals you may wish to look at options that would be designed to tolerate higher Sound Pressure Levels such as the Countryman E6 which is among the most popular mics in this form factor.

I bought 2 of these to test & potentially replace 4 beyerdynamic MPC 66 boundary mics. The problem with the MPC 66 is they were picking up alot of excess humm in the room from HVAC and other noises. The 'professional' audio installers claimed no improvement could be made. I went out on a gamble in search of the best boundary mic to replace it and decided on these. These are AMAZING! They blew the other mics out of the water. No hummm, no HVAC pickup. Clean voice. These work better than expected and would purchase again.
