CNC machined from solid aluminum, the PCL-7DIIR L Bracket from Sunwayfoto enables reliable camera support for both horizontal and vertical shooting atop a tripod or monopod. It is dedicated to the Canon 7D Mark II DSLR and is compatible with both Arca-type and Really Right Stuff lever clamps.

A convex edge design cradles the camera to prevent twisting or shifting during use and safety stop screws prevent accidental slipping during installation or removal. The left side of the bracket features a broad gap to allow unrestricted access to the camera's ports and the skeleton-style design helps to minimize the overall weight. With Arca-style dovetails incorporated on both sides of the bracket, as well as a durable aluminum alloy construction, this L bracket benefits a faster and more efficient tripod workflow.

Arca-style dovetails on both sides of the bracket are compatible with both Arca and Really Right Stuff style clamps and permit quick switching between horizontal and vertical shooting orientations.

A convex edge design prevents the camera from twisting or shifting when attached. Additionally, safety stop screws prevent accidental slipping when during installation and removal.

The left side of the bracket features a gap to permit full access to all of the camera's ports.

Skeleton-style design minimizes the overall weight while a CNC-machined aluminum alloy construction, with black anodized finish, benefits its durability.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this be mounted on a tripod via 1/4 thread rather than using the Arca/RSS clamp system?

A: Yes on the bottom of the bracket there is a 1/4 20 female thread.

Q: 2. Is this bracket compatible with a canon 5D Mark II?

A: Unfortunately not. These camera bodies have slightly different designs.

Q: 3. Is it compatible with Manfrotto Befree Advanced Travel Aluminum Tripod with 494 Ball Head?

A: This bracket is compatible with Arca-type QR clamps; the QR clamp on the Befree Advanced Travel tripod does not have an Arca-type clamp, so they are not compatible.

Q: 4. Can you attach the Peak Design strap fastener to the L bracket? I use a Peak Design hand strap, so I need a point of contact on the bottom of the camera in addition to the usual strap attachment. Thanks!

A: Yes you can attach a Peak Design hand strap to a camera with the Sunwayfoto PCL-7DIIR L bracket. Look at the photo on the B&H product page... flat part that fasten to the bottom of the camera... on the right. See the opening? It's as clear as day! Not sure if it's by design or accident, but the Sunwayfoto engineers provide a strap opening right there on the right side of the L bracket. Hence, one end of the hand strap fastens to the normal camera strap anchor on top of the camera... the other end of the hand strap fastens to the bar opening of the L bracket. Eazy peezy. Enjoy! Cheers!

Q: 5. Can I use a Manfrotto QR2 quick release with this?

A: You would need to attach the Manfrotto plate under this L-Bracket for it work. It has a 1/4" thread on the bottom for you to do so.

Q: 6. can the sunwayfoto bracket be left on or have an area to attach the strap mounting adapter when using a Black Rapid camera strap?

A: Technically, yes, but be careful. I currently have a 5D III, the Sunway bracket and a Black Rapid strap that comes with the screw-in attachment to the base. The Sunway Bracket has a separate threaded hole that fits the Black Rapid screw, right beside the bracket mounting screw. However, you have to remove it if you wish to switch to landscape orientation with a BR strap that lacks the tripod mount (like mine). That sort of defeats the purpose of the bracket, which is speed of orientation shift. If you use a bigger strap such as the Carry Speed, with the integrated tripod mount, you are good to go. Check to see if your type of BR strap has this feature.

Q: 7. What is the maximum width of the dovetail? I have several tripods and I would like to know if it might fit in those ball head clamps.

A: If your ball heads are arca swiss compatible, then it will work.

Q: 8. I own both a 7D Mk II and a 5D Mk III. Can this bracket be used on the 5D Mk III? Since the camera exteriors are very similar it seems possible.

A: This is not compatible with the 5DIII, it is made specifically for the 7DII.

Q: 9. is this bracket compatible with the original canon 7d?

A: This bracket is for the 7D Mark II and will not be compatible with the original 7D. You can instead use a Kirk L bracket.

Q: 10. Will this L_bracket (Sunwayfoto PCL-7DIIR) properly fit on the 7D Mark II with the standard canon camera strap attached to the camera?

A: Yes it will.

Great recommendation from B&H. I own one body. There's always time for multi-all, but for the moment, custom is perfect.

Its hard to imagine how something so simple can make so much difference. It doesnt get in the way of battery access or cable release. Switching from portrait to landscape only takes a moment.

Paid a lot more money for my first L plate, this bracket fits the 7d mark ii perfectly and as well if not equal to my other very expensive L Plate on my other camera, you do have access to your camera controls, fits on the tripod perfectly, where were they when I bought my first L plate!

Well made, not cheaply made. All edges are rounded and smooth. Great for landscape photos. I have one on each of my cameras. It does add some weight, no big deal.

The L bracket for the Canon 7D Mark II DSLR mounts well to the camera and doesn't interfere with any camera access areas. Mounts to tripod easily and is easy to change orientation. Well worth purchasing.
