The beige E6i (Switchcraft A3M) from Countryman is a miniature, omnidirectional, earset condenser microphone designed for accurate voice reproduction (speaking and singing) and near-invisible appearance in theater, concerts, lectures, houses or worship, and more. It features a water- and wind-resistant capsule that delivers a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response. The omnidirectional polar pattern picks up sound from all directions and should be used when feedback is not common.

The 5’ detachable cable has a diameter of 1mm, and features a Switchcraft A3M connector for compatibility with Lectrosonics transmitters. The E6i offers a flexible boom for versatile placement. The three protective caps yield different high-end frequency presence. The supplied windscreen protects the condenser element, and reduces plosives and wind noise. Cable clips and a carrying case are included.

A miniature omnidirectional capsule is mounted to a low-profile, flexible frame with silicon ear section. This lightweight, unobtrusive design is available in various colors that virtually render the entire microphone invisible against the skin. For more information on which color earset suits you best, refer to the Countryman support page.

The included 1mm diameter cable detaches from the actual headset, making it completely replaceable in the event of a short or break. The replaceable cable design makes upgrading wireless microphone systems easy, as they are available in a wide selection of connections to accommodate various wireless transmitters.

The omnidirectional polar pattern is most effective in minimizing wind noise, plosives (popping) and handling noise. The flexible boom provides a custom fit for multiple users and close microphone positioning while minimizing off-axis noise. The E6i is also available in a cardioid version for maximum off-axis noise rejection in environments with high feedback and noise.

This E6i sensitivity response is optimized to accurately capture both speech and vocal performances without noise and distortion.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I record ProRes Raw to a Ninja V with it?

A: At this time, the Sony Alpha a7 IV is not on the Atomos Ninja V compatibility list.

Q: 2. I see this camera lists the option to shoot photos in the 1:1 ratio. Will this camera allow a photographer to shoot in the 1:1 ratio in RAW file mode? Thus providing 1;1 (square) raw files?

A: Let me clarify. When you set the camera to raw you can select 1:1. What you see in the viewfinder and on the LCD are 1:1, ie, square. When you import the file into Lightroom (and I believe also C1 but haven't tried it) what you see is the square image that you framed. However when you click on the crop tool the whole 3:2 image is there and you can reframe your 1:1 image or you can go back to the original 3x2 image. If you choose the 3x2 image you have the full 42mpx (5304x7952( image so nothing is lost. If you choose the 1:1 square image the square crop file image size is 5296x5296 or 28mpx (I said 26mpx above which is what I had read before receiving the camera but these numbers are taken from my lightroom files.

Q: 3. What is the max bitrate for 120fps? Is it still just 12 and 16 like the a7riv?

A: When recording in FullHD 120fps the max bitrate is 100 Mbps

Q: 4. Is it Fair enough to say Sony a7iv's 4k 60 fps's video quality better than Sony a7s iii's 4k 60 fps's video quality because a7 iv's 4k 60 fps video down sampling from 4.6K n a7s iii is not?

A: Not necessarily. The A7IV shoots 4K60 cropped (1.5x crop, aka Super35) whereas the A7SIII shoots 4K60 internally with full sensor width.

Q: 5. Has the design of the side covers for connectors been improved? I.e. better sealing door?

A: There have been some improvements to the weather sealing, lens lock button design, and the lens mount, but Sony has not specified any updates to the side port covers.

Q: 6. What is the max bitrate for S&Q 120fps? Is it still just 12 and 16 like the a7riv? Or has it improved?

A: Sony hasn't provided this information just yet, hopefully we'll have these figures available once the user manual is released.

Q: 7. Does Clear Image Zoom in a7iv work in 4K? Worked only in 1080p in a7iii.

A: Although I'm unsure if the A7IV can do Clear Image Zoom in 4K at this point in time. The A7SIII//A1 can. Since this A7IV has the same processor as these two cameras, there's a high chance it will be able to also use Clear Image Zoom in 4K like it's siblings.

Q: 8. Does this camera support 4k60 16bit raw output over HDMi like the Sony A7siii?

A: Yes.

Q: 9. Will this camera be compatible with the La-ea5 adapter?

A: Yes, the LA-EA5 will work to adapt A-mount lenses to this camera.

Q: 10. Can this record 60i internally?

A: Yes, the Sony a7 IV Mirrorless Cameracan record 60p internally. It can record at 4k 60p however it will be cropped to APSC size.
