Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Why is this variant, the one with the motor, cheaper than the model without?

A: The AstroMaster 130EQ-MD regularly is priced higher than the non-MD version. You may want to ask the dealer for pricing details. Sincerely, Garrett at Celestron

Q: 2. Is the mirror parabolic?

A: Yes, the Celestron Advanced VX 8 200mm f/5 GoTo Reflector Telescope BH #CEAVX8NK • MFR #32062 has a parabolic primary mirror minimizes spherical aberration to produce a better image

Q: 3. Which one is better for Astrophotography for planets, the ASTROMASTER 130EQ or the ASTROMASTER 90EQ for detail and resolution?

A: For planetary viewing, I would go for the 90EQ. The added focal length helps a bit. With my 130EQ, a 2x Barlow, and an 8-24mm zoom eyepiece, I can see Saturn pretty clearly, but the 90EQ (which I also just acquired) has the extra magnification factor to bring it closer. It's noticeably dimmer with the 90EQ, but still visible. With that said, if your going to do ANYTHING other than planetary, the 130EQ wins every time! Just as cubic inches is king in drag racing, aperture is king in astronomy!

Q: 4. can this telescope be used for viewing planets within our solar system, such as Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars?

A: Yes, you should be able to see those planets with the Unistellar eVscope eQuinox 114mm f/4 GoTo Reflector Telescope BH #UNEVSEQ • MFR #EVSCOPE EQUINOX Please check out the YouTube videos on the product.

Q: 5. Can the MD that comes with the telescope follow the stars? Or is it suitable, for example, for 5 minutes long exposure?

A: Hello Erhan, the motor drive will track the stars and is suitable for long exposures as long as your mount is precisely polar aligned as well. Sincerely, Kevin at Celestron

Q: 6. DSLR Mount for Pentax ... what do i need ?

A: You would need these 2 parts: https://bhpho.to/2bcCNok Plus: https://bhpho.to/2c6yCPx

Q: 7. Are the images inverted or upside down with this telescope?

A: The AstroMaster 130EQ-MD comes with a 1.25" 10mm Eyepiece (image will be upside down) and a 1.25" Erect-Image 20mm Eyepiece (image will be right-side up).

Q: 8. can I use my canon 60D camera with this?

A: Yes, with a T ring adapter and a Barlow. If the Barlow has a removable lens, it can be screwed directly to the ring adapter to reduce magnification. To take photos at prime focus, however, you would need to significantly modify the focuser. It is possible to saw the focuser housing shorter, but it will decrease the stability of the focuser since the tube and housing are plastic.

Q: 9. What is the optical tubes weight, off the tripod?

A: Celestron does not list the weight of the Celestron 114LCM 114mm f/9 Computerized GoTo Reflector Telescope BH #CE114LCM • MFR #31150 OTA only. The total weight, OTA, mount and tripod is 15 lbs.

Q: 10. Can I attached my mirrorless camera to this telescope with an adapter? And if so, what adapter do you recommend?

A: The Unistellar eVscope 2 114mm f/4 GoTo Reflector Telescope has a camera built in and there is no other way to attach another camera externally.
