A: The clamp itself has no true weight capacity, and should hold even heavier cameras with large lenses. Due to the style of quick release plate (RP-20) I personally can vouch for larger cameras with medium-sized lenses (like a 24-70mm f/2.8) and would caution use with larger telephoto lenses to avoid torque from unscrewing the QR plate from your device.

A: If the head of the tripod has a 1/4 x 24 thread per inch stud you should have no problem. If the stud is larger, see if it is possible to remove it and invert it to see if it has a 1/4 x 24 threads per inch thread on the other end. if so invert it and reinstall it.
