The Tiffen 3 x 3" #11 Yellow-Green Filter is a basic contrast filter, primarily for use with black and white film. This yellow-green filter subtly darkens skies and lightens foliage. It is commonly associated for use with portraiture and attaining greater separation from skin tones and outdoor backgrounds.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what about parallax convergence in more close up shots? if that is what you call it.

A: Parallax issues would only occur say in rangefinders where you have an offset viewfinder, or viewfinder above the lens. Since SLR viewfinders are correlated via a mirror, what you see in the viewfinder is what you get.

Q: 2. can i use polarpro summit system with this lens?

A: No, the Polarpro Summit system will not work with the Canon 11-24mm lens.

Q: 3. Will a polariser Gel work in the Rear slot effectively ? Thanks

A: I have not tried using the rear slot since my research indicated that a polarizer is not effective in such wide angle lenses. I am quite pleased with my new 11-24mm lens and have taken some beautiful shots in the sunshine.

Q: 4. Hi, I was contemplating renting this lens to use on a 5D II and a 7D II. I've seen other wide-angles cause fringing / darkening of the frame edges when mounted on a body with a crop sensor. I figure it'd be able to be used at 11mm on the 5DII but could I still get a usable 18mm from this on a 7D II without issue?

A: It is called vignetting and you have it backwards. Vignetting for an EF lens is worse on a full frame camera with the same lens at the same aperture. This has fairly high vignetting on a full frame camera, but considering the focal length, not that bad. On a 7DII it would not be a issue. As you calculate, it becomes an 18-39 equiv on a crop sensor. It would be phenomenal quality in that range. But there are a lot better values out there than this lens in that focal range. Consider the 10-22 or 10-18 EF-S lens, unless the highest optical quality is your goal. To me, the whole point of this lens is to get the 126 degree perspective and you need a FF camera to get it. You would need a 7mm lens on a 7DII to get it and that doesn't exist (except for fish eyes).

Q: 5. Are drop-in circular polarizer filters available for this lens?

A: Drop-in circular polarizers are not available, no.

Q: 6. The Canon EF 11-24mm F/4.0 lens I just purchased from BandH has a small thin pile of dust about the size of a piece of corn on the external surface of the front glass near the tip. Is this normal for a brand new lens right out of the retail box upon receiving it? The dust was easy enough to wipe off with Zeiss lens tissues and the glass does not show any sign of scratch by naked eyes. No dust on the internal side of the glass as far as my eyes can tell. Any advice and input will help my expectation of a brand new professional lens.

A: While the Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM Lens is a professional lens, as it is also mass-produced in a factory, every-so-often there may be a minute chance of dust or other slight imperfection(s) that may be on the lens. If the dust or item was simply able to wipe off, there may be no other issue with the lens, and as long as the lens performs correctly as designed and you see no other imperfections or issues when testing the lens, the lens should be okay for usage. However, do note we do have a 30-Day Return Policy on the purchase of the Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM Lens (subject to the terms/conditions listed on the Return Policy link on the bottom of our website), so if you are not happy with the lens for whatever reason, you may return the lens for an exchange or refund by contacting our Customer Service Department.

Q: 7. What is rear filter slot thickness ? Thanks

A: The rear filter slot is for gel filters only. Gel filters have a specification thickness of 0.1 mm plus or minus 0.01 mm.

Q: 8. On a Canon Mark 5 III would this possible be the best lens for trying to photograph the northern lights?

A: I currently own a dozen+ L lenses of all shapes and lengths, when I was considering the purchase I was going back and forth because of the price and I had other glass that was in the range at both ends. Canon was going to lend it to me to try through CPS but my impatience took over. After it arrived it in short order became one of the three lenses in my grab and go bag! Amazing is my answer... such a wide photo with such a low level of distortion on the edges... and the clarity is stunning =M

Q: 9. Do they offer the hood for this lens yet?

A: The lens hood is built in and not removable. The lens also comes with a lens cap that slips on over the hood.

Q: 10. it's 82mm or 77mm?

A: Kyle,I assume you're asking about filter sizes, but this lens doesn't take a front filter. The convex surface of the front element, along with the built-in hood, prevent use of a normal filter. There is, however, a slot for a rear gelatin or plastic filter.I hope this helps.Best,Tom
