This 100mm f/2.8 lens features a Micro Four Thirds mount, and is compatible with Micro Four Thirds sensors where it will provide a 200mm equivalent focal length.

A bright f/2.8 maximum aperture is useful for working in a variety of lighting conditions and the minimum f/32 aperture helps to attain a long depth of field when working with close-up subjects.

One high refractive index element and one extra-low dispersion element help to control chromatic aberrations and minimize distortions throughout the focusing and aperture ranges.

An Ultra Multi-Coating has been applied to lens elements to reduce lens flare and ghosting for increased clarity, contrast, and color fidelity.

Featuring a macro design, this lens affords a 1:1 maximum magnification ratio along with a minimum focusing distance of 1'.

Benefitting working with especially close subjects, this manual focus lens features an internal focus design to maintain the overall lens length during use. Additionally, the front filter mount does not rotate when focusing to better enable the use of polarizers, graduated ND, and other filter types that require precise positioning.

A rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out-of-focus quality when using selective focus or shallow depth of field techniques.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How much does this lens weigh?

A: 1.69lb.

Q: 2. Is the front element fixed or does it retract into the barrel when zooming as the Laowa 100mm macro does?

A: Benefitting working with especially close subjects, this manual focus lens features an internal focus design to maintain the overall lens length during use.

Q: 3. does it compatible with metabones speedbooster for bmpcc?

A: I have the Metabones T Speed Booster Ultra 0.71x Adapter for Canon Full-Frame EF-Mount Lens to Micro Four Thirds-Mount Camera . This lens is compatible with that speedbooster.

Q: 4. Can a fuji xt-10 manage this lens in terms of weight? Reviews indicate it's heavy.

A: Yes the X-T10 can handle this lens.

Q: 5. Is the focus lock a "hard" lock where the focus ring can no longer be moved? Or is it a soft lock where its just harder to twist the focus?

A: The lens has a focus lock. The lock stops it from focusing.

Q: 6. Does the Rokinon 100mm T3.1 Macro lens work for the Sony Alpha a7 II?

A: Thei Rokinon works with the Sony a7 II only with an adapter. Since this lens is all manual, you only need a straight adapter with no electronics. Bower ABNEXSON Sony NEX Camera to Sony Alpha Lens Adapter B&H # BOCASSMAX. If you get a Sony A mount lens with auto focus, you will need this one. Sony A-Mount to E-Mount Lens Adapter with Translucent Mirror Technology (Black) B&H # SOLAEA4. However, we strongly suggest you getting this one. Rokinon 100mm f/2.8 Macro Lens for Sony E B&H # RO10028SE. Yes, it is more expensive but it is less than the other lens with the adapter. This way the lens mounts directly and you do not have to fiddle with an adapter. Image quality will be the same either way.

Q: 7. Does the Rokinon 100mm T3.1 Macro lens have good to excellent quality glass?

A: Rokinion, manufactured in South Korea by Samyang, is line of good quality lenses sold at astonishingly low prices. We have never heard complaints regarding Rokinon image quality. Now, of course, if you compare them with the more expensive lenses, look for edge-to-edge sharpness, distortion, vignetting, chromatic aberration, auto focus, auto aperture, etc, etc and the more expensive lenses win. However, when it comes down to it, the layman could look at the image made by this and by a more expensive lens and would have a hard time telling the difference.

Q: 8. That lens shouldnt be a MACRO lens?

A: To be called a macro lens, the image has to be recreated in a 1:1 ratio life size on the sensor. With this 100mm lens, focused at it's minimum distance of 12 does come close but not 1:1. I would say it is about 1:2 which may be close enough for you. If needed to get closer, I would use close-up lenses like these.

Q: 9. Is this lens comptable with Sony A7RII?

A: Yes, the Samyang 100mm f/2.8 ED UMC Macro Lens for Sony E is compatible with the Sony A7RII. The lens will connect to the camera, and one can manually focus. Because their is no electronic communication, between the lens and the camera, changing f stops is manual as well. To be able to trip the shutter one must set the camera to the w/o lens setting.

Q: 10. Can it be used for macro photography with Sony 6000 ?

A: The 6000 has an E-Mount and this is an E-Mount lens. You are good to go.

I'm new to macro photography, but this one definitely takes some impressive photos and is fairly inexpensive if you're just getting into it. Picky on focusing, but that may be my lack of experience. Here is a photo of morning dew on a spider web.

I’ve enjoyed using this lens for macro photography but also general photography like some portrait shots. Love the manual controls, they’re real smooth with fairly precise motion. I also had some fun with the warerproof tube tip thing, mainly just because it was available but then I started getting creative with it. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good m43 macro lens.

I'm still in shock at how cheap this lens is. We're using it primarily for video. Optically it's really quite good, for video use it does breath a lot when focusing - and since you're so close to the subject it can be really noticeable if you are trying to rack focus. That said, we bought it for one specific project where we knew there would be a lot of macro shots, and for the price point you really can't go wrong.

So far I am very impressed with the results I have been getting, They are sharp and crisp. The depth of field is excellent at F5.6 to f11. The build quality of the lens is excellent, perfect fit on the body of my a6000, its quite heavy for its size. The extending hood takes a little getting used to but it does a great job in shielding the lens from both light and damage. Overall Its excellent value for the money.

VERY solidly built lens. And the macro capabilities are quite impressive at this price. I like the manual focus, personally. The depth of field at 1:1 and wide open is astonishingly shallow, so you'll need to stop way down if you're trying to photograph anything that might move even the slightest bit. I cannot imagine you'll find anything better for the price, however.

I've never owned a macro before, I picked this up as part of a package deal on craigslist. I freakin love it! First off, the quality and build of the lens is surprisingly excellent. Second off, if you've been holding off on a macro like me, you should definitely just get this.
