The S-8823 7.2V, 18Wh Battery with DC Output from SWIT is a JVC BN-VF823-type battery compatible with JVC GY-HM100/101 series camcorders. This compact battery incorporates a 7.2V 2.1mm barrel DC output to power an accessory simultaneously with your camera. A four-level LED indicator gives you a quick view of the remaining power before using the battery.

This battery can be charged using the SWIT AA-S3602V Dual Channel Charger or via the barrel port using the SWIT S-3010D Portable Pole-Tap Charger.

A: That will depend on the charger being uses, but with a standard charger it should take 4 hours or so to fulyl charge this battery from empty.

A: Yes, unless you are comparing cells with similar characteristics in which most cases more cells means a heavier battery and longer runtime.

I read the negative reviews on the JVC BN-S8823 and was concerned about it not holding the charge it displays on the camera. So, I decided to buy this battery and I can confirm through bench testing that it doesn't have the same problems of running for about 15 minutes and then draining completely. It works like a champ and is a great alternative, now if only B&H will start listing this one with the HM170 instead of the JVC BN-S8823 that's caused so much disappointment. 5

We have purchased SWIT batteries over the years for our JVC cameras and have been happy with them. The indicators on the back have been a reliable way to quickly see the charge level without having to plug it into a camera or charger and we have always appreciated that feature. 5

This is a far better option for NP-style batteries than the generics which tend to be erratic, or the Sonys which tend to be overpriced. The capacity readout seems to be mostly accurate and is a useful feature that all batteries should have. 5

I got these to use with my Portkey monitors as I was looking for a battery solution that let me know how much charge was left. I decided to do a run test and this battery lasted just over 4 hours which is excellent. It was completely charged again at just over 2 hours. It is a heavy battery but it really lasts a long time. 5
