Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this lens work with Sony A6000 and A5100?

A: I'm not familiar with those cameras. I purchased the lens for my Sony A7S. It's an e mount lens that works with full frame frame e mount cameras.

Q: 2. Can this full-frame lens be used with my Canon SL2?

A: Yes, the Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM Lens is compatible for use on the Canon EOS Digital Rebel SL2 DSLR camera. Do note that the Canon EOS Digital Rebel SL2 DSLR camera uses the smaller APS-C sensor, which has a 1.6x crop factor. As such, the Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM Lens used on the Canon EOS SL2 will have the equivalent angle of view of a 25.6-56mm lens used on a full-frame camera.

Q: 3. What is the best Variable ND filter for this lens? I tried a few 82mm and they cause a bad vignetting.

A: Any extension of the lens tube (including filter rings) beyond the front element of a wide angle lens will cause vignetting if it intersects the lens' field of view (FOV). VND filters are longer because they have two polarizing elements, increasing the likelihood of vignetting with ultra wide angles. One possible solution would be to use a low-profile 82 to 95mm step-up ring with a 95mm VND filter so that the filter ring would lie outside the FOV. The adapter ring will extend the lens tube slightly, but less than an 82mm VND would.

Q: 4. What kind of warranty is on the lens? Is this lens USA version or grey market one?

A: Limited 1-Year Canon USA Warranty.

Q: 5. Is this compatible with aps-c camera like the canon 80D?

A: Yes, I used it on my 7D and also on my 5D without any problems. It's my primary lense.

Q: 6. i have 7d for now and want to move up to 5d3 in the future what lenses will i consider from 16mm wide to say 400mm? thank you kindly for your helpful input.

A: First let me say that I love the EF 16-35 f/4L lens. I have a somewhat odd group of lenses as I started out thinking I would not move to FF. The lenses you need will depend on what you like to shoot. I love this lens on my 5Diii. I have not tried it on my 7D as I mostly use the 7D for action shots and birding with longer lenses. I'm sure it will be great on the 7D.The lens I use most on the 5Diii is the 24-105 f/4L. It is a great walk around lens on a FF camera. I like to shoot wide in a lot of situations, so for me the 24-105 length would not be good on the 7D.For longer lenses, I have both the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM and the EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lenses. The EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS ii and new EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS ii lenses would be a better combination, but would be significantly more expensive. I am happy with the results I get with the lenses I have, and I particularly like the 70-300 mm range on the FF camera. Obviously there is a lot of overlap here, so you should be able to get by with only one of the lenses, depending on your needs.I also like having some decent prime lenses for the added speed and shallow depth of field. My thought is that by having both crop sensor and full frame cameras, each prime is like having two lenses, e.g., the 85mm f/1.8 lens I recently purchased (used) is roughly equivalent to a 136 mm lens on the 7D. I have the EF 28 f/2.8 IS lens. I bought it before I decided to move to FF as it is roughly equivalent to a normal lens on the 7D (44.8mm). Had I known I was going to move to FF, I would have chosen the EF 24 f/2.8 IS lens instead because I much prefer the 24mm verses the 28mm focal length on a FF camera. Finally, I have the EF 50mm f/1.4 USM lens. I would love to have the L primes, but I do not use the primes enough to justify the cost.

Q: 7. I am ready to buy Canon's 16-35 f4L. Can I use a normal UV filter or should I use a thin UV filter?

A: If you are using the Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM Lens on a full-frame camera, as it is wider than 24mm, yes, I would recommend using a thin filter on this lens. If you are using this lens on an APS-C sensor camera, then a standard filter may be used.

Q: 8. Is there image stabilise?

A: The lens itself doesn't have image stabilization. It will work great with a camera body that has stabilization, like the A7R2 or A6500.

Q: 9. I have only purchased camera equipment from Canon direct, what warranty comes with this lens?

A: The warranty on that lens is standard and it is a Canon USA Limited 1-Year Warranty.

Q: 10. does anybody feel the zoom ring a little bit hard to turn compared with other canon zoom lenses? would like if it is normal in this lens

A: Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM Lens usually has a tight zoom ring when you purchase the lens brand new. As you use it it will become smoother. If iyou need to use strenght to pull the zoom out, I would recomend getting the lens checked or exchange. In thios case you may also hear low noises when the lens is trying to focus or by simply turning the rings on the lens.
