Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the recommended micro sd card for the zoom f3?

A: You can use a memory card like the SanDisk 64GB Extreme UHS-I microSDXC Memory Card (B&H # SAEMSD64GBG) with the Zoom F3 Portable Field Recorder for approximately 11 hours and 34 minutes of recording time in WAV format at 32-bit / 192 kHz.

Q: 2. If the recorder turns off during a recording (in progress), can the whole audio file be found intact?

A: If the Zoom F3 2-Input / 2-Track Portable Field Recorder loses power while recording, there is a strong chance that the file could be corrupted or lost.

Q: 3. if I connect a camera to the f3 zoom, do I get the audio recorded in the camera? in case I can have the double recording in the camera and directly on the zoom f3?

A: Yes, you can connect the line out from the Zoom F3 Portable Field Recorder to the input on your camera to record audio in the camera while simultaneously recording audio on the SD card in the Zoom F3. The F3 does have an adjustable line-level output so you can set the line output level to match the input level of your camera. See page 41 of the user manual for information on adjusting the F3's line-level output: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/817196.pdf.

Q: 4. What's the best way to mount this onto a camera cage/ hotshoe?

A: The Zoom F3 has a 1/4"-20 thread on the bottom for mounting to an accessory shoe or a camera cage. So you can use something like B&H # ZOHS1 or BH #IMCA110 to be able to do that.

Q: 5. Libec A12P 12-pin Adapter Cable

A: Yes, you can use the A-12P 12-pin Adapter Cable with the ZC-9PRO Zoom Control.

Q: 6. What frame rates does the F3 support? Can I sync recorded F3 audio to say a 25fps or 59.94 video?

A: The specifications for the Zoom F3 Portable Field Recorder do not provide any information regarding the frame rates that are supported, but the timecode sync is provided via Bluetooth when using the Zoom BTA-1 Bluetooth Adapter (B&H # ZOZBTA1) and the Atomos UltraSync BLUE Wireless Timecode Sync (B&H # ATOMSYBL01US). The UltraSync BLUE supports 23.98 to 29.97 FPS. You can find more information on how to view the timecode information on the F3 when using the BTA-1 and UltraSync BLUE, with the FPS rate displayed, on page 87 of the user manual: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/817196.pdf

Q: 7. Do I need 2 of these adapters and batteries or is one enough to run the camera?

A: One will work. Not quite as fast recycle time as LiIon/rechargable in my EL500. Whether you need 2 depends on how many shots you plan to take before changing the battery. Don't know how many shots you will get from one battery

Q: 8. What is the battery life with 48V phantom power on both channels?

A: With 48V phantom power engaged on both channels, the Zoom F3 2-Input / 2-Track Portable Field Recorder has a battery life between 2.5-8 hours depending on the type of battery used (lithium batteries offer the longest run time).

Q: 9. Can recording be triggered by a camera (not via app/BT)?

A: No, recording on the Zoom F3 Portable Field Recorder cannot be triggered by a camera.

Q: 10. What is the build quality like? All plastic?

A: The Zoom F3 2-Input / 2-Track Portable Field Recorder features a sturdy, rigid build quality similar to the housing of its larger F6 and F8 recorders and uses a combination of metal and plastic.
