A: I believe it was listed that way because it was originally removed from a packaged SLR deal and in a white box (nice professional package BTW). I received the USA version, in perfect/new condition with a warranty card. I completed the Canon warranty online with no issue, but also bought a 2 year accidental coverage since this lens is going to my teenage daughter who is just getting into photography. I purchased a full frame camera, kept my L Lenses, and gave her my crop sensor and wanted a decent lens. So far I am happy with this lens for her. BTW, I originally went to an auction site and bought this same lens Brand New . It was not brand new, had dust and damage inside the lens which made me believe it may have been repaired. Posed the question of new/details to another seller on the same site, and they changed their tone saying they had used it. Keep in mind in those 2 instances, Canon will not provide a warranty since they were not authorized re sellers, where B&H is. I have gone through B&H for many years as they are rock solid in what they provide. I wanted to try a save a hint since I am still unsure how she will handle it, but I ultimately buckled up here and bought it through B&H.
