Q: 1. Could this be used as an audio interface with 32 bit float and good digital preamps? Looking for an audio interface on windows, compatible with FL Studio DAW with 32bit float and good preamps. The only name that I hear is apollo twin duo from UAD, but user experiences complain about it being dysfunctional with Windows OS and FL Studio. Is there anything similar that is compatible with windows/fl?

A: Yes, the Sound Devices MixPre-3 II Audio Recorder can be used as a 32-bit audio interface with Windows.

Q: 2. So, it only has 1 XLR input? Does it supply phantom power?

A: Hi John, The MixPre-3 II has 3 XLR inputs along with a stereo 3.5mm input as well. The XLR inputs can all supply phantom power, and the 3.5mm input has PIP (plug-in-power) available for 1 mic.

Q: 3. Any reason why it does not work with Sony A7C?

A: Pluto lists the a7C as "not supported" on their website.

Q: 4. Is there a separate timecode out and a separate audio out option, or is it just one dual use output where you have to choose between these two?

A: Hi Richard. There is only one (dual use) output, which is shared between audio and/or timecode. The output function is user-selectable in the OUTPUTS MENU. Sound Devices Support (support@sounddevices.com)

Q: 5. Will it work with the A7RIV ?

A: Yes this would work with the Sony A7RIV.

Q: 6. Can I record 2 track live music to an SD card and then open it in Performer Lite for mix down?

A: Wav files recorded at 96 kHz 24-bit to an SD card using the MixPre-3 II can be imported to Mac, Windows or Linux computers with most DAW applications installed. Sound Devices does not list all compatible audio applications but the manual does mention Pro Tools, Reaper, Cubase, GarageBand, Audacity, and "many, many more." Although we are not able to confirm compatibility with Performer Lite, it seems likely that it will work.

Q: 7. Will this work with an Alexa Plus?

A: Yes, you can use the Mixpre-3 II with the camera but will need adapters to connect the recorder's 3.5mm TRS output to the camera's XLR 5-pin audio input. You could use a 3.5mm to XLR 3-pin male cable such as the Kopul Stereo Right-Angle 1/8" Male Mini-Jack to XLR Male Cable - 3' (B&H # KORSMXM03) combined with a TecNec 5-Pin XLR Male to 3-Pin XLR Female .(B&H # TEXLM5XLF18I).r

Q: 8. How long would this last on a 20,000 mAh battery via USB-C? Or, how big of a mAh battery needed to power it all day?

A: Sound Devices has not published a benchmark for battery life with USB-C power banks, as this figure would be highly situational, but 20,000 mAh is the recommended capacity to use with the MixPre-3 II for better battery life than the included AA battery sled.

Q: 9. Can I sync timecode from my Fujifilm X-T3?

A: Thank you for your question. Neither the Fujifilm or the Mix pre 3 generate time code. You would need to get an external time code syncing device and input the devices into the mic input on camera and the TRS AUX in on the mix pre. I suggest using the Tentacle Sync Sync E Timecode Generator with Bluetooth (Dual Set) BH #TETE2

Q: 10. Does it work on the canon 90D?

A: This cable is listed and has been tested specifically for the Canon 5D Mark IV. However, both Canon cameras use the same protocol and this cable should be fine for the Canon 90D.
