A: This not for a second monitor, this is a video card to use with premiere, final cut or other software.

A: The fan speed is determined by the internal temperature. When the fan speed is high there is some noise.

A: The Blackmagic Ultra Studio HD Mini can accept signals of up to DCI 2K quality. It would not work with a 4K signal.

A: This device supports full duplex which means you can input and output independent video signals, if the application supports it. When using this device with most video applications, the input signal will automatically loop out on the SDI output. It is up to the video application to support the output of the program feed while using the input feed. Our published SDK should have information on how this can be implemented.

A: The short answer is yes. If your camera has SDI out, no problem. If your camera uses HDMI out, you will need to get a HDMI to SDI converter. I've been doing it often using a HDMI converter. If you have an analog out only you will also be able to use this. The analog inputs are BNC and you can get inexpensive RCA to BNC adapters. The input to your computer to record using Premiere or the BMD software is via Thunderbolt 3.
