A TBC/Frame Sync is a standard feature and allows this BrightEye to work with any sort of video input. Great for broadcast and desktop applications, BrightEye 26 can be used with sources such as VTRs and incoming satellite feeds.

Analog audio is embedded in the SDI video signal and converted to digital audio and output via an optical connection.

The audio is converted to digital and then it passes through the built-in four channel mixer with shuffle and level control.

This device can be controlled by a PC or Mac computer with software and USB connectivity.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will it do 4k@30?

A: No, it will only support 3G video up 1080p60.

Q: 2. what cable to use?

A: You can use any standard 75 Ohm BNC cable (RG6 is recommended). I recommend the Canare HD-SDI cables, for example B&H # CA56HSVB20.

Q: 3. Best battery to last long time connected to 12volt input ?

A: I don't exactly know the power consumption of the unit, but I suspect it is in the neighborhood of 1 Amp at 12 VDC. The use of 2 LP-E6 batteries on the back gives me all the time that I would want to shoot in one day...they recharge easily overnight. A spare pair lives in my bag, already charged. The 12 Volt connector on the unit will charge attached batteries. If you decide to use an external battery, you would have to mount it somewhere and have the correct cable to make it work (check polarity carefully!). I also have built a rig that powers a BMPCC camera, Small HD DP4 and B4 zoom lens from a single Gold Mount battery plate. On that rig, a 65WH battery will run all of the equipment for more than a day. Anton-Bauer and Ikan both make good batteries and chargers. Basically, Amps X Volts = Watts so, you can do comparative math and pick out a good battery system. Good luck.

Q: 4. Can this monitor be powered off a v-mount battery? If so, what cable/accessory would I need?

A: Yes, you can use a dummy NPF battery to D-Tap cable and use a V-Mount battery to power the Blackmagic Design Video Assist 3G-SDI/HDMI 5" Recorder/Monitor.

Q: 5. Wil this do 2:1 pulldown for my C100 in 25PsF?

A: This does not do pulldown of any kind.

Q: 6. Can this record H.264 Files?

A: The Blackmagic Design Video Assist 3G-SDI/HDMI 5" Recorder/Monitor can not record in the H.264 format.

Q: 7. Can this be used with the Sony FS5 to record 10-bit 422 HD via SDI? Want to record ProRes to avoid long-GOP.

A: yes, it the BM Video Assist records apple ProResHQ 422 10 bit with the sdi cable in 1080 HD mode. i believe that the 4k output from the fs5 is only 4:2:0 color space, and the BM video assist doesn't record 4khere are the specs for the fs5 - Sensor Size: 4352 x 2662, 11.6 Megapixels (8.4 Megapixels Effective) Sensor type EXMOR 4K Super35mm E-Mount Lens type S-Gamut3.Cine & S-Log3 Native 3,200 ISO with 14 Stops of Dynamic Range Built in Electric Variable ND from 1/4 to 1/128 Codec: XAVC-L 3840 x 2160 8-bit, 4:2:0, up to 30fps continuous. 1080p 10-bit 4:2:2 up to 60fps continuous S&Q Mode: 120, 240, 480, 960 fps (buffered like FS700) Less than 5 sec boot time, Direct Access Menu, No rebooting for Rec format changes, etc., 2K Center Crop 4K RAW output via future firmware Dual SD Card Slots Built-in microphone Dual XLR input (one on body, one on handle) 3G-SDI, 4K HDMI, WiFi, Wired LAN, Same batteries as FS7 Weighs: 0.8kg

Q: 8. This can take 2 different SDI input (ex. SD1-1 and SDI-2), then this two sources can out on 1 SDI-out?

A: This is a single input output device intended for signals that require multiple connections. It does not handle independent signals.

Q: 9. Does the Video Assist charge the LP-E6N batteries when it's connected to a 12v ac power source?

A: Yes. When connected to AC power, the batteries can be charged in parallel while the Video Assist is still being used.

Q: 10. could this be used to extend 4 independent HD-SDi signals? trying to find a 4in 4out HDSDI amp.

A: It cannot, this product is a Multiplexer that is designed to convert 4k to UHD through the various varieties of SDI connection. If you wanted to split a single SDI signal out 4 ways you would need the Mini Converter SDI Distribution 4K, which actually will allow you to split the signal up to 8 HD-SDI connections. After trying to go the cheap route, and not being satisfied with the results, I decided to spend the extra money and get something good. And this was worth every penny! Everything from the really nice and solid stand to the mount and softbox works just beautifully! Easy to set up and tear down for location shoots! I would highly recommend this.
