Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can it handle rolls of photo paper?

A: It doesn't have a roller attachment per se. But you can create individual loooong prints - like a banner or panorama - by pre-cutting whatever you need off of a roll of paper and feeding it into the printer from the top (just let it hang down the back, up a wall behind the printer, or even flop down in front of the printer. But if you hoping to use a continuous roll as in a pro-type setup, that cannot be done.

Q: 2. can this printer handle canvas sheets? What's the max weight it will take?

A: The max thickness this printer can handle through the rear feed is 23ml which roughly translates to around 310gsm. As most canvas is above this weight i would avoid it if possible.

Q: 3. Will this print on Allure fine metal? Thickness 0.045

A: I would not recommend printing on metal media.

Q: 4. Can you print HTV vinyl and printable vinyl 4 t shirts

A: It will not print on HTV vinyl or printable vinyl for t-shirts.

Q: 5. How does the scanning quality rate? Can I scan quickly? How many photos can I scan in one hours time? And can i save the scans directly to my external hard drive to avoid thing up space on my macbook?

A: Scanner is great even for photos. You can scan up to 4800 dpi. Speed is all pending on the dpi you scan, the higher the dpi the slower your scan. It also depends on your computer processor, ram, & hard-drive speeds. By setting up the scanning on your computer you can select to save the scans even on a external drive.

Q: 6. One of the reviews warns about printing B&W because the 15000 doesn't include the "advanced B&W driver". What is this? I like printing B&W, and I'm interested in this printer b/c is has a gray ink which presumably helps with B&W. But the review presents a pretty stark warning about B&W printing with this printer. Thanks.

A: This printer can print black and whites using the appropriate ICC profile. It may not create black and white prints that higher end printers that have a larger black level color gamut.

Q: 7. How does the photo image quality compare to, say, the older Canon Pixma Pro-100 ?

A: This uses 6 ink cartridges and the Pixma Pro 100 uses 8 ink cartridges. Both are great printers and would get fantastic prints. But the more colors you have the more real to life your print would be

Q: 8. Can I make 12x18 prints on this?

A: Yes, the Epson Expression Photo HD XP-15000 Inkjet Printer BH #EPXP15000 can print 12 x 18''.

Q: 9. Is versatile enough to use for regular paper B&W letters?

A: Yes, you can print every day type prints on this. But you would be using PRO ink.

Q: 10. Does heads clog if not in use for say...a month or so?...

A: Depends on your level of humidity, and if you put your printer near heat sources like riser pipes, radiators, or direct sunlight, and how long you've owned it. Most people don't experience problems in their first year of warrantied ownership. An especially dry apartment is also not good; consistently under 25% humidity. The engineers recommend to leave the printer plugged in and turned on, and it should wake from sleep and do trickle cleanings periodically. To keep the printer flowing do nozzle checks and cleanings using plain paper once every month or every month and a half.
