The tan E6i (4-Pin Push-Lock) from Countryman is a miniature, omnidirectional, earset condenser microphone designed for accurate voice reproduction (speaking and singing) and near-invisible appearance in theater, concerts, lectures, houses or worship, and more. It features a water- and wind-resistant capsule that delivers a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response. The omnidirectional polar pattern picks up sound from all directions and should be used when feedback is not common.

The 5’ detachable cable has a diameter of 1mm, and features a 4-pin push-lock connector for compatibility with Lightspeed transmitters. The E6i offers a flexible boom for versatile placement. The three protective caps yield different high-end frequency presence. The supplied windscreen protects the condenser element, and reduces plosives and wind noise. Cable clips and a carrying case are included.

A miniature omnidirectional capsule is mounted to a low-profile, flexible frame with silicon ear section. This lightweight, unobtrusive design is available in various colors that virtually render the entire microphone invisible against the skin. For more information on which color earset suits you best, refer to the Countryman support page.

The included 1mm diameter cable detaches from the actual headset, making it completely replaceable in the event of a short or break. The replaceable cable design makes upgrading wireless microphone systems easy, as they are available in a wide selection of connections to accommodate various wireless transmitters.

The omnidirectional polar pattern is most effective in minimizing wind noise, plosives (popping) and handling noise. The flexible boom provides a custom fit for multiple users and close microphone positioning while minimizing off-axis noise. The E6i is also available in a cardioid version for maximum off-axis noise rejection in environments with high feedback and noise.

This E6i sensitivity response is optimized to accurately capture both speech and vocal performances without noise and distortion.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. where can we find when a Rode specifically fitted dead cat will be available? Most any mic is unusable here in the field without one.

A: You can find one at B&H. This is the B&H part number B&H # RYSHFS7MCM1B.

Q: 2. Can this camera use canon efs lenses in crop mode ( with adapter ) is the AF still works ?

A: From our tests with currently available Sony models (namely the A7RIV, A1, and A7SIII) and the Metabones adapter, we've had success with several EF-S lenses. The combination of A7RIV + Metabones + EF-S 18-55mm and 18-135mm lenses was quite good and we assume reliability will depend on the lens itself. In most of our tests, AF-C in video was not fully reliable.

Q: 3. Do you recommend using a mid-level spreader with this tripod? If so, which one?

A: The Manfrotto 645 FAST Twin Leg Video Tripod with Ultra L-Lock Mechanism (Carbon Fiber) does not work with mid-level spreaders. Here is ground spreader it works with. Manfrotto 165MV Ground Spreader for Spiked Tripod BH #MA165MV • MFR #165MV

Q: 4. Can you use interchangeable lenses with this camera? If so, which ones?

A: This camera cannot use interchangeable lenses.

Q: 5. Is it possible that in the future Sony will add 4k60 in full frame (through pixel binning or line skipping)?

A: Sony has not given any indication that Full Frame 4K 60p will be coming in the future to the Sony Alpha a7 IV Mirrorless Digital Camera. There is no way to know at this point.

Q: 6. Is it ok to remove the card, download footage w a card reader + reinsert card and contunue shooting w/o formatting?

A: Yes, it is fine to take out the memory card from the Sony a7 IV Mirrorless Camera and down load images via a card reader. And then put the card back into the camera.

Q: 7. Will it work with my Sony XLR-A1M audio adapter via the Multi-Interface connector shoe?

A: Yes, the Sony XLR-K1M Adapter and Microphone Kit (B&H # SOXLRK1M) will work with the Sony a7 IV Mirrorless Camera with Accessories Kit.

Q: 8. Would this be a good camera upgrade from a73

A: Yes, definitely. The jump from the a7 III to the a7 IV is a pretty big one: there's a new higher-resolution sensor (33MP vs 24MP), a new image processor from the flagship a1, improved video (4K 60p 10-bit recording vs 4K 30p 8-bit), better AF and subject tracking/detection, and some additional updates and improvements in the physical design and interface. It's a very strong upgrade from both photo and video perspectives.

Q: 9. Can it shoot XAVC HS 4K at 30p? I don't see it as an option.

A: Unfortunately it cannot shoot 4K 30P in the XAVC HS format. You'll have to do XAVC-S or XAVC-S-I for 4K 30P.

Q: 10. What's the average file size of the lossless compressed raw format unique to this camera?

A: Due to this camera not being officially released yet, the only information available would be from reviewers with pre-production copies of the A7IV. However, we can make some guesses based on other current-generation Sony cameras. Based on current information we know from the Sony A1, the current file size reduction at 100 ISO is 37% and its uncompressed RAW file sizes at 50MP are approximately 56MB - 75MB. The A7IV will likely use the same algorithms, and we can guess-timate its uncompressed RAWs to roughly 37-49MB. Lossless compressed would then give you roughly a 24.5-31MB .ARW file.
