The black GRW2018508 Rackworks Hinged Wall Mounted Rack from Gator Cases features a hinged back, double section, welded frame construction. The rack consists of 18 gauge removable side panels with spring latches and an 18 gauge SPCC cold-rolled steel top and bottom. There are 11 gauge drilled and tapped front and rear rack rails, and the top is perforated to accommodate a fan. The rack U number is printed on the rack rails, and there is an 18 gauge solid steel door. There are 10/32 rack screws, a 5/8" knockout design for a VHF/UHF antenna, and a 10 x 10" rear access knockout for cables. Additional cable entry knockouts on the top and bottom include knockouts with 1/2", 5/8", 1.0", and 1 1/2" dimensions.

A: I would suggest using a floating rack for shock protection. I would not want this rack to be dropped from 4 feet in the air with my equipment in it. I also would be concerned with any case that doesn't have recessed hardware. The hardware could be knocked off the unit and then the doors will open.Will this unit survive a flight. Probably so. Will it possibly fail. There is a chance.

This rolling case is the perfect lightweight solution for carrying rack mount audio and video electronics packages. I bought a universal mounting tray, and mounted 3 Firestudio Mobile units side by side then easily mounted the tray in the Gator Rack bag. I was also able to mount a Firestudio Project unit above the tray giving me a total of 14 mic/instrument line inputs and 18 line level inputs for remote audio recording. And I still have one blank rack space open for future additions. 5

OK, I'll write a review... I bought this for a Focusrite Scarlett 88i20. I liked where the handle is located as I didn't particularly want to sling this over my shoulder with the strap. That tends to put my weight off balance and strains that one shoulder. The rack bag is lightweight and well balanced with the Scarlett bolted in. I wanted a minimal case and this was the smallest I could find. It has enough room for the Scarlett without being overly large. The pocket fits my MacBook nicely. The handle is thick and comfortable. Protection and padding is good so I will be comfortable with it in the trunk of my car. I am happy with the purchase and if the zippers hold up I will continue to be so. It will get light use so that is my expectation. Oh, and the bag arrived ahead of schedule from B&H. 5

Price is right. Wheels and build are solid. Fits the x32 rack perfectly, and between the pocket and the extra inside space (the expanding handle gives a partial rack space inside) allows for storage of the ipad, wireless hub, and misc cables. Not the MOST protection, but plenty for normal bumps and drops. 5
