Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this compatible with a D3400?

A: Yes, it will fit and work, but it's probably not the lens for you. The D3400 is a DX cropped sensor camera. The lens is a FX full-frame lens. So this lens will act something like a 105-300mm lens on your camera. This is a very heavy, very bulky, professional lens. It's so heavy, your neck will start hurting after about 10 minutes, so you'll want to buy a sling instead of using a neck strap. It's really way overkill for your camera. You'll be spending a lot of money that you'll never see the benefit from.I'd suggest the Nikon DX 55-200 or DX 70-300. Much less expensive and more appropriate for your camera. Later, when you buy the $2700 camera, you can buy the $2700 lens.

Q: 2. what do the 4 buttons do on the lens?

A: The Focus Function Button and Selector item 6 in the diagram in this manual, allows you to focus by pressing that button on the lens. One feature it has is focus lock, that is if you want to focus separately from the main shutter button on the camera. This allows you to make sure the subject is on focus and then when you press the shutter button there is no delay to focus first. You can see the manual here. https://static.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/295135.pdf

Q: 3. What's in the box?

A: Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR Lens Nikon 77mm Snap-On Lens Cap Nikon LF-4 Rear Lens Cap Nikon HB-78 Bayonet Lens Hood Nikon CL-M2 Lens Case (Black) Tripod Collar Limited 1-Year Warranty

Q: 4. I have 2 other Nikon Lens, one has 18-200 3.5 and the other is 70-300 4.0. Will I notice the difference with the 70-200 2.8. I like shooting indoors with bad lightening.

A: I totally agree with the other answers below. The 70-200 f2.8 is a professional lens able to be used at a constant f2.8 aperture. Indoor sporting events are difficult with any camera. Low light is low light. This lens will give you a much better result than the other lenses you mentioned.

Q: 5. What is the strengths over the previous model?

A: From my usage/point of view, sharpness in general, faster auto focus and a little bit lighter. The VR is also improved but I've never tested that back to back.

Q: 6. Does this lens come with caps and carry case?

A: The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR Lens includes: Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR Lens Nikon 77mm Snap-On Lens Cap Nikon LF-4 Rear Lens Cap Nikon HB-78 Bayonet Lens Hood Nikon CL-M2 Lens Case (Black) Tripod Collar Limited 1-Year Warranty

Q: 7. Is the Autofocus of this lens compatible with Z7 and FTZ? I see the answer which indicates that it works with Z7 and FTZ but I want to make sure that also implies the Autofocus function. Thank you.

A: Yes, this lens will autfocus with the Z7 and FTZ adapter.

Q: 8. Have the focus breathing issues been addressed?

A: That's what they're saying yes. Check out the new design and you'll get a sense how they solved it

Q: 9. is this a gray market lens?

A: No. Has US Warranty

Q: 10. How long and how wide is this lens with the hood attached (ready to shoot) and with the rear lens cap on? I need to know if it will fit in my,Think Tank LC 75 Pop down V2.0 Lens Changer Bag.

A: I agree with Richard R's measurements. Also, with the tripod mount on the lens the distance from the mount to the top of the lens is about 5 inches; however, that measurement is probably not material to your situation.
