Q: 1. Is there a rear-handle focus control available for this camera?

Q: 2. I don't see an ISO setting. There's a gain setting but I need to sync the settings to a light meter.

A: Traditionally, video cameras do not have ISO ratings because they didn't work like film cameras. Since there is no listed ISO for this camcorder, you will have to create your own ISO. Do to that: hang and evenly light a 18% grey card and fill the camera frame with grey. Set the camera to 0 gain, no filter, no shutter, auto exposure. Set your meter to 60th of a second or 30FPS with 180 degree shutter. Now dial the meter's ISO up and down until you match the camera's f/stop. That is your ISO. Over on the gain switch, 6db doubles that ISO number and the 12db quadruples it. I suspect you will want to only use 0db and on occasion go to 6db with 12db used only in emergency.

A: Yes you can. This camera does have a 3G-SDI connection that you can use with the Arrow-X 3G-SDI Wireless System.

A: Yes it can be, you can use other 1/3 lenses on this camera. We have some nice options from Canon and Fujinon that will work, they are B&H Numbers CAKT14X44KRS, FUXT17SX45BR, FUHTS18X42BQ and FUHTS18X42BE.

A: Yes, the DiskStation DS124 1-Bay NAS Enclosure can copy full folders.

This is a traditional video camera where at every morning set up and maybe after lunch, you will take the time to do a back focus check since it is possible the back-focus had strayed. Replaced a DS118 with this one to gain more speed. Definitely notice faster operation. Upgraded by moving over my SATA drive. Super simple upgrade without losing data- did it all automatically and 5 minutes later I was up and running on the DS124. 5

So first, I am an avid Synology user with both rackmount devices as well as desktop devices. This particular NAS is used for remote backup in my backup scenario. I'm a big fan of backup in 3 places in case a device fails (I have not had a Synology failure). I have a daily driver DS723+ as my primary, a DS720+ for plex, and a local RS1221+ that those backup to. I then replicate the RS1221 via rsync to the DS124. All of this is automated and I'm limited to speeds at the sending and receiving ends of the providers. I'm usually sync'ing about 6GB per day and all of this occurs to the DS124 withing 20 minutes across the internet. The unit is much more snappy than the previous generation DS118 and of course, DSM from Synology is amazing. I really recommend this NAS for this particular use case. If you are new to NAS's and want to try one out, this is a good start, but it is really not meant for heavy workloads with a lot of connected users. I have a 16TB Ironwolf in this one (on the Synology QVL) and could not be happier. Keep in mind that Synology is getting more picky about the drives that go in their devices, especially in the larger drive size variants, so do a little research before you decide on this NAS. Pretty much limited to one 16TB drive on the QVL if you go with that size. Again, consider the use case. If you want a starter NAS or something that is good for remote rsync, I can heartily recommend this NAS. If you are looking at using heavy workloads or a lot of connected users, start at the DS224+ level. 5

This camera delivers terrific images without any drama. Sure 35mbps seems low in this era of 200mbps camcorders, but the pixels are very solid and grade-able, and honestly, I'm skeptical about some of those high-megabit claims. Also, this camera shoots in .mov which is so nice to use after struggling with the zillions of specialty codecs from the other manufacturers. Fuji lenses are, of course, the bomb. 5

Excellent option for anyone wanting/needing a local storage option. Synology's DSM desktop application is user friendly. Added a Western Digital 6TB WD Red Plus NAS HDD. Very pleased with this purchase. B&H Photo provides A+ customer service. 5

This is the second Synology product I've purchased and I'm not disappointed. Well designed for ease of installation of hard drive. User interface consistent with other Synology hardware and straightforward to use. If this is to the same standard as previous products it will be reliable too. 5

My company restricts USB drives from our laptops. But I'm old-school and like to have a local backup of my work in case my work computer dies and I can't access my files for a few days while I wait for a replacement or repair. It's sadly happened before so I know from experience. And since I work with videos (4-6GB per file, they are too big to email, and I don't want to send them to an unsecured site (Google Drive, etc.) I needed a local solution. I am not particularly technical (and I'm in my 60's) so I was hesitant to explore NAS solutions. But this is perfect. Don't forget to buy a hard drive as this is only the enclosure and internet connection. I bought a 2TB WD Red drive. I had the whole thing up and running in under 30 minutes. I use Backup4All software on my Windows 11 laptop and it backs up seamlessly. I could not be happier. I highly recommend. 5
