Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can the tilt/pan handle be removed?

A: The handle itself is a screw in implement, and is removable. The panning device attached to the window mount is permanently affixed to the mount and is not remove-able.

Q: 2. Can I use the befree video head directly with the window mount?

A: Yes, the Manfrotto 243 Car Window Pod in the Manfrotto Car Window Pod Mount and Micro Ball Head can accept Manfrotto Befree heads like the Manfrotto Befree Live Video Head since they interface through a 3/8"-16 screw.

Q: 3. I have a D850 which do I need?

A: The Oben BE-126 Ball Head & CWM-01 Car Window Mount Kit, BH # OBBE126CWMK would be best for the D850. http://bhpho.to/3gXqE9L

Q: 5. Can I use this to shoot video while driving?

A: Yes. The Nikon Car Window Mount will work for the Canon Rebel camera or any 1/4"-20 mount camera.

Q: 7. how much weight can this support? My body & lens weigh about 12 pounds

A: Berlebach rates their clamps at 10 kg (22 lbs) for weight support, so with including the full weight of the rig and bean bag, you should be able to support up to 19 lbs.

Q: 8. Do you think this would clamp on a 3/4 shelf?

A: When fully open, it is 3/8 betwixt the leg and the swivel clamp. On the swivel clamp is a pad that is appx an 1/8 thick, which cuts the 1/2 down to only 3/8 when fully opened.

Q: 9. How much weight will the Manfrotto 243 Car Window Pod support?

A: I have a 95 mm Swarovski with extender and angle eye peace its 5 lbs works great no issues

Q: 10. This may be a dumb question but... from the photo I see a tilt lock and a window clamp lock. Is there a pan lock and pan capability other than panning the device on the mounting screw? Is the handle for panning movement and is it also a lock?

A: The Nikon car window mount has full range of motion which permits viewing at any angle. There is a clamp lock which secures the mount to the window and there is a tilt lock which locks the tilt in the desired position. There is no need for a pan lock because it won't move position, and you would want the ability to quickly pan to a different position without having to first unlock it.

When finding wildlife in a car used as a blind, this is the answer rather than a bean bag or hand-held!

We use it for spotting deer, coyotes and people on our property. It is ease to maneuver my scope once it is mounted to my window. It seems to be strong enough that my scope is solid and doesn't wiggle and move.
