Tiffen 55mm Digital Diffusion/fx 4 Filter
- Product Code: ga252172

The Tiffen 55mm Digital Diffusion/FX 4 Filter is a softening and diffusion filter specifically meant to appear invisible, as if no filtration is being applied. Compared to other diffusion filters, this filter offers virtually no flare or loss of contrast for more subtle applications. It helps to lessen facial blemishes, wrinkles, and gently smooth textured backgrounds while maintaining sharp focus. The 4 density provides more softening than the 3, but less than the 5.
This filter is constructed from Water White glass and is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Will this work well with EoeR5?
A: This lens is meant to cover a Super35 sensor but the R5 is a Full Frame camera, so you will be able to use the lens, just in a cropped mode.
Q: 2. can this camera be tethered to a computer?
A: it is possible to connect the camera to the computer for downloading photos
Q: 3. Is this the 2nd version of this lens? Or is there only one version? Anyone know when or if another version will be made or released?
A: From what I am finding, there has only been one version of the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 lens. I havent seen an announcement from Canon about a new version of this lens, so wouldnt be able to say if they plan on releasing one anytime soon.
Q: 4. I own a Canon EOS m50 crop sensor body and EOS mount adapter. I am still interested in buying this versatile lens (if not, then 24-70mm f/2.8), but still wish to know more information regarding cleaning a lens as I like to be as thorough as I can when understanding lenses, as a hobbyist. I’m very careful with handling my kit lenses and telephoto lens which are all weather sealed. Has anyone who owns this lens had any issues with dissembling and re-assembling it when cleaning it themselves, if any dust particles appeared? Several youtube videos showed how to disassemble and reassemble when cleaning the lens. Where I live there is a camera shop, but I highly doubt they’ll be able to fix a related issue or worse condition, “should” something arise or no repair parts. May request to send overseas for repairs, which will cost more money. Very curious. Thanks in advance.
A: I would highly recommend that you do NOT disassemble a lens. Putting it back together in the hopes that all the elements will be aligned properly is ill-advised, I would leave it to a professional to clean a lens if need be.
Q: 5. Is it compatible with a5100?
A: Hi Tharuedee T, Yes, it is compatible with A5100 but the SteadyShot is not supported. Regards, Jen
Q: 6. This will be my first camera without a viewfinder. Are the images on the screen visible in sunlight?
A: Like other digital cameras, the screen is difficult to see under strong sunlight. This camera has a screen that can be tilted, in such a case, you can turn the screen away from the sunlight to have a better view. This only applies to certain shooting angles, not always avoiding the sunlight interference. Hope this may help.
Q: 7. Is this lens compatible with a Canon 70D?
A: Yes. It has become my go to utility lens.
Q: 8. difference between nx300 & nx300m?
A: The main differences are the flip/touch screen and the wifi connectivity. The camera takes good stills but the video function doesn't perform well. I actually sent the 300M back and now have a Panasonic GX7. For what it retails for now it is one of the best mirrorless cameras available in my opinion. It is a micro 4/3 camera and not a cmos sensor but the image quality is super and the sensor difference is insignificant for general, everyday usage.
Q: 9. I'm shooting on a Blackmagic 6kPro using a Canon 16-35mm lens which is spec'd for use on a full frame sensor, the 6kPro has a Super 35 which is basically an APS-C. If I were to use the Canon 17-55mm lens, which is spec'd for the APS-C sensor, would I see a notable difference in the field of view?
A: Field of view would be the same if the lens is 17mm full frame or if it is 17mm apsc, the angle of view will be the same on the Blackmagic 6kPro. If you need something wider you need to go to 11mm like this one. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1119028-REG/canon_9520b002_ef_11_24mm_f_4l_usm.html
Q: 10. Does this lens suffer from "focus breathing" when pulling focus in video applications?
A: Yes, the Sony Sonnar T* FE 55mm f/1.8 ZA Lens would show focus breathing. Moreover, the Sony Sonnar T* FE 55mm f/1.8 ZA Lens does not seem to be a lens supported by the focus compensation feature, which is built into many Sony camera models. See the following link for focus breathing compensation cameras and supported lenses: https://bhpho.to/3XCcqC5.
