The digital camo TravelCoat Lens Cover for Canon 500mm f/4L IS Lens from LensCoat is a 3.0mm thick shock-absorbing closed-cell neoprene lens cover that is custom tailored to fit with the lens hood in reverse position. It is designed to fully protect the lens when not in use, without the need for a more comprehensive lens case. It allows more valuable room for packing and storage. The coat simply slides over the lens, and closes with a secure touch fastener. The Digital Army Camo is an advanced computer generated camouflage pattern. It is modeled after the U.S. Army's standard-issue ACU pattern, which provides a pixelated pattern that maximizes visual break up. The pattern, constructed from small rectangular pixels of color, mimics naturally occurring dappled textures and rough boundaries.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would this work on a Rebel T2i? (Yes it’s old, saving for a new body)

A: Yes, the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens is compatible with the Canon Rebel T2i digital camera.

Q: 2. Anyone use this with the Canon EF 300mm f/4L IS USM Lens and if so with what success? I primarily use manual focus so dont care about auto focus.

A: I use this lens extensively, mostly for birding and wildlife. It's an amazing lens when working close, it focuses down to about 5 feet for near macro photos, especially with a 1.4 X or 2 X tele-converter behind it. I've also used it for a few landscape images, and it works very well then as well. I'd say that it is an excellent lens, but there seems to be a soft spot in it from about 20 feet to 50 feet, where the images it produces aren't as sharp as I get with my other lenses, but that seems to depend on the subject and other conditions. It is my primary bird in flight lens and on my 7D Mk II most of the time. It is a bit tricky to manually focus it, small movements of the focusing ring make large differences, but once you get the hang of it, it does work well. Hope this helps.

Q: 3. Will this work on a Canon 90D?

A: Yes it is compatible with the 90D.

Q: 4. Is the tripod mount supplied with the lens

A: Yes, the tripod mount ring is included with the Canon EF 300mm f/4L lens.

Q: 5. Do you find you are able to shoot out in the field without a tripod? (300mm f/4.0 IS USM lens) on a 60D (sometimes with extender 1.4x II or III) This is my wildlife/birding setup.

A: This lens can be used handheld but your mileage may vary. Handholding a heavy lens like this over long periods can cause fatigue, which can end up causing blurry images. I would still recommend taking a tripod or monopod along for shoots just in case you start to get tired of hand holding it.

Q: 6. Hi How good is this compared to the canon 70-300 L IQ,IS?Thanks

A: I am not familiar with the lens in your question. I use the 300 f4 for wildlife and sports, but use the 70-200 f 2.8 and the 200-400 f4.5/5.6 for most of My sports work. The 300 fixed lens is excellent for shooting consistant distances where most of the action takes place, and works well with a 2x extender.

Q: 7. i want to know how it compares to the Sigma dg 500mm lens i have, is it the same sharpness if so i will stick with my 500 sigma?

A: in all fairness I really can only remark on the canon 300 f4 lens as I do not own the Sigma 500, to be honest it would be hard to compare the two as both are different focal lengths so its an apple to oranges comparison in that respect ,however as far as the 300 f4 canon goes I am totally happy with its performance as far as sharpness ,image stabilization (as others have mentioned its a litttle noisy & its an older version of IS ) easily hand hold hold able . I have used it to photograph small birds and have occasionally used it for weddings where my 70-200 2.8 is lens is not long enough .

Q: 8. ...and while displaying my novice; can I inquire if this specific lens is compatible with the t4i?

A: Yes. This lens will work on the T4i. It will look like the equivalent of 450mm, due to the APS-C crop sensor, which carries a 1.5x conversion factor. All EF and EF-S lenses will work on this type of sensor.

Q: 9. Will this lens fit a Canon EOS Rebel T5i? Thanks

A: The Canon EF 300mm f/4 is fully compatible with the T5i, yes.

Q: 10. Will this lens work well with the canon R5 with the mount adapter.

A: Yes, the Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS (Image Stabilizer) USM Lens will work well with the Canon EOS R5 Mirrorless Camera (BH #CAER5) so long as you have an EF to RF mount adapter, such as the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R (BH #CAMAEFRF).

As soon as you hold this lens in your hand you know it was worth the money, and then some. This is my first professional grade lens and has not been removed from my camera since it got removed from the box. On day one I did senior portraits for a girl in my area and the lens performed incredibly, blowing my 50mm 1.8 our of the water (although that in itself isn't a terribly difficult feat). I would buy it again in a heartbeat: incredibly sharp, great color, fast aperture, incredible build quality. Word.
