With its exceptional 100° field of view, the Tele Vue Ethos 17mm Ultra Wide-Angle Eyepiece offers a comfortable eye relief with high contrast, excellent on-axis sharpness, and virtually zero astigmatism or field curvature.

This Tele Vue features anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics to improve brightness, color rendition, and contrast, and a fold-down rubber eyecup that helps to block stray peripheral light, avoiding interference with the views and further enhancing contrast. Combining a hyper-wide field of view with a long focal length, the eyepiece delivers moderate to low magnifications on most telescopes — offering expansive views of the night sky and an immersive observational experience. This eyepiece features a large 2" barrel diameter to make it even more comfortable to view through and a textured rubberized grip for sure handling. An ideal companion to the 31mm Nagler Type-5 eyepiece, the 17mm Ethos is parfocal, requiring little to no refocusing when switching between the two. It is also compatible with the astigmatism-correcting DIOPTRX diopters to further improve the view.

Q: 1. Regarding the focus ring, if the ring is pulled back and set to 5ft Red 5 number), what does that mean in terms of the f-stops and focus length. Does that mean that anything within 5ft at f5.6-f/22 will be in focus -or- what? Any tips are appreciated!

A: Yes that does mean that anything within 5 feet at any f-stop will remain in focus.

Q: 2. I want to purchase the panasonic gh4 mainly for documentary purposes but also for some occasional photography. I wanted to get an opinion about which lens I should buy first. I am debating between the Olympus 25mm f1.8 and the 17mm 71.8? I am not so worry about the price diference. I just want to make sure that I get a great lens that I can use for everyday use.

A: I have the Olympus 17mm f/1.8 as well as a Panasonic (Leica) 25mm f/1.4. The 17mm is my social lens. I use it for family gatherings, vacations, parties, and just hanging out. I have always liked the 35mm equivalent focal length for this kind of shooting. The 25mm gets more use when I am out intentionally looking for art. The 25mm contributes more pictures to my portfolio; the 17mm gets me more of my favorite snapshots. Buts that's just the way I shoot. Both lenses make fine pictures.

Q: 3. Will the 17mm f/1.2 Pro work in ProCapture Low mode?

A: Yes this lens can work in Pro Capture Low Mode when shooting with the OM-D E-M1 Mark II.

Q: 4. Does the hood rattle a little bit for anybody else? It's not loose enough that I think it's broken or about to come off or anything, but it still feels a tiny bit loose when handled. It just surprised me coming from the PL8-18 (which has the same button release design), the hood on that one has absolutely 0 play and feels like it's completely part of the lens (even reversed).

A: A tiny bit loose, but not enough to rattle. No different than other Oly Pro lenses. I'd rather have it like this than too snug.

Q: 5. Does this lens have autofocus or is the focusing manual?

A: The SLR Magic MicroPrime CINE 17mm T1.5 Lens (MFT) is a manual focus cinema style lens.

Q: 6. Does this lens have have, what is called, a manual clutch ? To be used for manual focusing.

A: yes id does have Manual Focus Clutch

Q: 7. Does the lens come with lens caps? I can’t imagine it would, but it doesn’t come with a hood.

A: Yes, front and rear caps.

Q: 8. can it be used on panasonic gh4?

A: I would guess so -- I use it on my GX7.

Q: 9. Does this fit with the panasonic lumix gx7?

A: I'm not a owner of a Panasonic camera, but I'm sure it does fit, as both Panasonic and Olympus use the same micro four thirds mounting system. So you can use Olympus lenses and I can use Pany lenses on my OM-D camera.

Q: 10. Is the manual focus ring on this lens different from other Olympus pro lenses? The one I have is not as smooth as my 45mm f1.2

A: We are not sure if you mean tactical or function smoothness. All the lenses made by Olympus have very similar grip so they should all feel about the same. If manually focusing the movement of the ring is not smooth, you might consider exchanging your lens if you just purchased it.
