A: The STM feature in this lens is applicable only to the video recording feature in specific Canon APS-C DSLRs. (Currently the Rebels T4i, T5i, Sl1 and the 70D models and all future Rebel/APS-C models which record video). The feature allows those cameras to autofocus when recording video. The feature has nothing to do with still photography work. Use of an STM lens on any other camera aside from those listed above is just a waste of money as the cameras will not be able to utilize the feature.
