Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it good to blow dust off film negatives before scanning?

A: Absolutely! If you are having trouble getting all of the dust and lint off (especially if they're important frames and you don't want to have to do any dust spotting in post later) consider also a film cleaning brush. For example, https://bhpho.to/3mksaHS

Q: 2. Is this compatible with MacBook Pro, and which programs?

A: As far as I know the dial is compatible with any Windows 10 compatible computer (and not just Microsoft Surface series, which is the case for Microsoft Pen). So yes, it is compatible with Apple H/W BUT NOT in native (MacOS) mode: ONLY if you are in Windows compatibility mode (via Boot Camp, Parallels Desktop etc).

Q: 3. Is it safe to blow on sensor?

A: No problem here...The Rockets are very economic & safe for sensors and have a built in filter when taking in air so you're not sucking in contaminated air to discharge...

Q: 4. Does this feel like an apple keyboard?

A: Yes the feel is similar.

Q: 5. Does this come with a bluetooth dongle?

A: No, the Microsoft Surface Keyboard does not use a dongle, it only works with devices that have Bluetooth capabilities.

Q: 6. should i use it in a humidified room most of the dust in my camera is static dust?

A: Don't know about the humidifier room but I use it well on ?my lenses works really well has a powerful little blast then I wipe with zeish wipes

Q: 7. will this set up be good for zoom?

A: We recommend using the X-Keys XK-24. The X-keys Wirecast Control Surface is better suited for Wirecast.

Q: 8. Is there much difference in the amount of air blown with the Large Giottos versus the Medium? I'm mostly wondering if the extra bulkiness/length of the Large one is worth it versus saving a little space in my camera bag?

A: I keep the large size in my studio for cleaning my lenses after being out on a shoot. I keep the medium size in my camera bag for just in case. The large size has more volume, hense more pressure. Hope this helps.

Q: 9. I saw some reviews elsewhere that airport security (TSA, and abroad) have confiscated these because of the look. Still happening?

A: I don't think so. I've been on several domestic flights and one international one in 2017 and have never had any issues with TSA trying to confiscated it.

Q: 10. Is this compatible with Mac OS?

A: Can it work on any laptop with Bluetooth connection ?

I paired this mouse with my new Macbook Pro. It works perfectly and has a stable bluetooth connection. It fits well in my big hand.

I do not have a Microsoft Surface and I am using the dial on a regular PC. I am using it as a volume control, to scroll, and also to zoom when using a drawing tablet. So far so good. I love the feeling I get when using it and how cool it looks.

Great build quality, very comfortable to use, the keys feel so typing nice to touch, is fast and responsive, with no noticeable lag.
Had no problem to connect it to my computer! just follow the included instructions!
The main issue with bluetooth keyboards, is that it doesn't work in Bios (but i knew that when i order it).
Awesome Keyboard!! very happy that i bought it!

Turns out this unassuming little silvery puck is kinda useful. If you need a dedicated jog wheel for video scrubbing, you may want a dedicated option with plenty of customizable buttons, but if you're a casual video editor, this'll really come in handy. Just assign the wheel and single-click functions for the video editor you're using to the editor's relevant shortcuts. It's that easy. The dial knows what app is in focus and changes the settings accordingly. But don't limit yourself to video editing: undo/redo, brush parameters, canvas rotate, next/previous track with play/pause for the button actuation, ink replay in OneNote ... the sky is the limit. And it's tiny and wireless! Just know two things: you can't assign shortcuts that use the Windows key, and the Dial will fall asleep after a while, which doesn't bother me but might bother you.

I’ve gone through a few keyboards trying to find the perfect combination of style and performance. The surface keyboard was exactly what I was looking for. Not only does it look sleek, but the keystrokes feel spot on and the key spacing is very natural. The ergonomics are similar to most standard keyboards but since it’s so thin I find it more comfortable than my previous bulky keyboard.

Another bonus is the ease of switching between my MacBook Pro and Surface Book. They keyboard supports both and does not lose any functionality when using with a MacBook.

Something to note: this keyboard does not have adjustable feet if you need to tilt. However, I find the position of the keyboard is perfect for me and I don’t plan on making any modifications.

We got this because my wife wanted a keyboard that felt like her Surface Laptop 3 keyboard, which is a great keyboard for a chicklet-style ultrabook keyboard. And we got it despite its price ($99!) and complaints about it disconnecting often (it's Bluetooth 4). But my wife has noticed no disconnection problems; the device feels like it may actually be worth $99 (not quite, but close) and the keyboard is almost as good as the one on the Surface Laptop 3. Not bad! Even I like using it (though I prefer keyboards with longer key travel and higher activation force).

When I learned the Surface Dial can be used with my non-Surface Windows 10 PC, I bought it as a perfect solution to having a volume knob to mute and control the volume as I listen to video with widely varying volumes between program segments and advertisements. And it does many other tricks as well. Great price on B&H.

Setup was as easy as a push of a button, which is all it took to pair this mouse with my Surface Pro. Works wells, with no problems to report.
