The Olympus ME-52W Noise Cancellation Microphone adds further versatility to your Olympus Digital Recorder (A WS-321M in my case). The Microphone comes as part of a four piece kit that includes the microphone, a 1m long extension cable, a tie-clip style clothing clip and a foam wind screen that fits over the microphone. The microphone itself is hinged above the 'mic/input' jack on the top of the recorder where it can be adjusted horizontally by rotating it in the jack and vertically through using a hinge incorporated at the microphone's base. This external mic provides far superior clarity and range over the WS-321M built-in microphone! With the microphone inserted directly into the input jack it allows the user to hold the whole unit like a handle with the mic projected unimpeded out of the top. I found the mic very handy during news scrums and while taking personal notes as the risk of covering the recorder's built-in mic is eliminated. The tie-clip mic holder is useful mainly when recording a stationary subject or when recording yourself when you need your hands free. It's very straightforward to use and easy to remove the mic from it quickly. Lastly, the wind screen cap was also surprisingly useful. It really made a difference in sound clarity when recording in windy conditions and recording in a vehicle with the windows open or the top down. All in all this is a very inexpensive purchase considering the value and versatility it adds to your recorder. Really a 'must have' if you're serious about the recordings you make.

The Olympus digital voice recorder (WS-400S) is a great stereo reorder. With the ME-52W Noise Cancellation Microphone the recorder is a fabulous dictating machine as well as a conference recording device. The microphone is small, sensitive, excellent and effective. It comes with several attachments that make it ideal for many, many uses.

I use this mic to record my voice when singing. Attached to an Olympus recorder, I find an improved quality of sound. The mic is flexible and quality of build appears to be excellent. The only problem I have is the windscreen comes off easily. No downgrade for this problem, it is just an irritant.

I use it with my Contour +2 to get better audio.

I am a sound tech in a church and we use a Olympus Voice recorder to record the pastors messages. We have had 2 other lapel mics that picked up everything, and was it hard to edit out all that they picked up, and some of the time things that did not belong on a church's website. After getting the ME-52W we have not had any more problems with crowd comments, plus, the quality of the voice recorded is much better. The only thing I don't like about it is when the pastor says a word that begins with P it pops even if the windscreen that comes with it is on. Besides that I love the ME-52 W noise canceling microphone. I highly reccomend it.

I needed a microphone to add audio to some training slides. It was a one-shot deal, so I didn't want to spend a fortune on audio equipment. The ME-52W was the right piece of equipment for the right price. It was simple to install and use. The audio was free of electronic static and background noise, just right for training slides.

I bought this due to the backorder on the RODE smartLav. Tired of waiting....after some research I bought this and a TRRS to two(2) 3.5mm splitter. I downloaded the RODE app plugged everything in and it worked great! Cheaper than the smartLav and based on my researh the TRRS gives the ME-52W Exciter Power for better pickup. I used this with the RODE Rec App on both my 3rd Gen iPod Touch and my iPad Mini. Also with the splitter I am able to monitor the audio. That's a bonus the smartLav won't give ya.

Use the product for my computer to talk with friends over the internet. The mic is probably the best I have ever owned and it was only $ dollars!
