Also, I recharged the batteries I used in the YN685 and my Maha 8000 charger and it told me that only 500 mha were used out of the 2500 whereas the same batteries out of the SB800 were charged to 2500 which meant that I used them completely. Do I need to return the the unit and get a replacement?

A: You might want to try Panasonic eneloop batteries. I have used them in my YN-685 and YN-560IV and YN-568EX without an issue.
