Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is image stabilization an issue with this lens?

A: The lens does not have image stabilization so are you really asking if absence of IS was an issue? It's 50 f/1.4 mm lens so no, not at all. Longer lens with a larger aperture number may benefit from IS but this one seems to be doing well w/o it.

Q: 2. do you ship to Maldives?

A: Yes we do. We offer several shipping methods which can be found on the checkout page of our web site.

Q: 3. Does this product come with a lens hood?

A: No. I suggest you spend the few dollars extra and get the genuine Canon-brand lens hood, ES-71 II. It has a Black Felt Interior Lining, which further reduces stray light, and it is nice to have the Canon name on your hood. If you prefer a metal or rubber lens hood, just do a search on B&H for 58mm lens hood and you will find more than 60 hoods to choose from, available from B+W, Sensei, Heliopan, Dot Line and other manufacturers in every price range. Any 58mm *screw-in* lens hood will work with this lens, and your selection depends on how deep and/or wide you would like it to be. If you decide to go with a non-Canon brand, I can tell you that collapsible rubber lens hoods are a good choice, because they can take up a little less space in your camera bag and offer added protection if you tend to knock your lenses around a lot. (All of my expensive medium-format lenses came with rubber lens hoods.) If you are careful with your equipment, however, stick with the genuine Canon ES-71 II. You won't regret it.

Q: 4. I would like to purchase the EF 50mmF/1.4 USM for use with my EOS RP, obviously using the Lens Mount Adapter. I've read in the thread that the metal mount on the EF 50 f/1.4 will be a tighter fit on the camera body. This shouldn't be a problem with the mount adapter, should it?

A: There won't be any issue when using the 50mm with the lens adapter.

Q: 5. Is this a good lens for Milky Way photography?

A: Buy a Ronikon. You dont need the extra money you are paying on auto focus with this lens. The lens is extremely sharp and reliable but is more than you need for milkway photography.

Q: 6. I have the older digital camera Cannon EOS 450 D. I currently own a cannon 50 mm 1.4 lens that was made to go with the cannon eos rebel k2 film camera which I purchased in the early 2000's. The quality is not as good with the digital camera as with the film camera. I suspect the lens is not completely compatible -- it thread on correctly and I can take shots, but is there some type of conversion going on that is responsible for the lower quality? Or is the problem that it's a 2008 camera and digital just wasn't as good back then? If I want higher quality do I need a lens like this one, created specifically for digital, or do I need a new camera body? Or do I need a 50mm 1.2 lens?

A: Send to Mxico?

Q: 7. Is this lens compatible with the EOS 30D?

A: Yes it is

Q: 8. Is this lens compatible with Canon 70 d

A: Yes. This is an EF lens. EF designated lenses are compatible with all Canon EOS digital cameras.

Q: 9. Will this lens fit a canon 80D?

A: Yes it will!

Q: 10. hello I want to know what lens to by : 1 - EF 50 mm f/1.8 stm2 - EF 85 mm f/1.8 usm 3 - EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Lens ??????????

A: I'd recommend the 50 1.4! I love mine. It takes crisp, clear photos even in lower light and I love the bokeh I can get with it! It's my favorite of all the lenses I own.
