Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Has anyone tried using this lens for Infrared photography?

A: I have not but see no reason why it wouldn't work.

Q: 2. Is this weather sealed?

A: Yes. According to the Overview on Nikon USA's website, they state that the Nikon AF-S Zoom NIKKOR 14–24mm f/2.8G ED’s rugged construction and professional-grade dust and moisture resistance withstand even the most trying conditions.

Q: 3. How does this compare to the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 and the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5. Both are obviously a lot cheaper than the Nikon. Anyway has any experience with those lenses or their respective brands? thanks

A: The Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 and the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 are APS-C lenses verses Nikon 14-24 is full frame , Nikon gives you better glass quality less distortion better color

Q: 4. Does anyone know whats the manufacturer of this camera lens?

A: nikon

Q: 5. I have a nikon 24-120 lens that i like very much, would it be worth it to invest in the nikon 14-24? I dont do a great deal of wide angle photography but was wondering if I was missing much.

A: The AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8 would offer the wider angle which is suitable for those working in tighter spaces and the full stop increase over your current lens. While it was mentioned that you're not shooting a great deal of wide angle photos, it wouldn't hurt to have this lens in case the need ever came up.

Q: 6. Can this be compatible to nikon d7100?

A: Yes, it should work very well with the d7100. I currently own the superb d7000 and d610 and the lens works wonderfully on both bodies.Just remember that the d7000/7100 are cropped sensors, so your actual range will be 1.5 times the lowest and highest of the zoom range of the lens that you are using. It is a spectacular lens, from optics to construction. If you choose to invest in this lens it will follow you for many years to come on what ever body you choose to upgrade too. It is perhaps the most superior lens in this range.Hope this helps.

Q: 7. Can I made Virtual Tour or Aspherical shoot with this lens? Or I must have FishEye lens

A: Yes, this lens would be great for shooting panos and virtual tours. The optical quality is superb and will render excellent results. A fisheye lens is not desirable as it would create too much distortion.

Q: 8. Is this made in japan

A: Yes. I bought my 14-24mm at the end of July 2017 and the lens barrel shows that it was made in Japan.

Q: 9. I've read in some reviews/posts that you can't attach filters to this lens. Will I be able to use my Lee slide-in ND filters and filter holder?

A: The Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 does not have a front filter thread, so cannot use standard screw in filters, nor is it compatible with the Lee 4X4 filter holder. That being said, there are a couple manufacturers who are making special filter holder systems for lenses like the 14-24mm f/2.8, though they wouldnt use the standard 4 X 4 square filters. http://bhpho.to/1o4AQ1L

Q: 10. what about vibration control?

A: Hi, the Nikon 14-24mm does not have vibration control.

I use this for weddings, specifically at receptions and outdoor portraits. An excellent lens for those shots Uncle Bob can't get with his semi-pro DSLR.

The lens has an amazing image quality. The very wide angle range takes some getting used to.

okay there are 50million comments about weight, not being able to put protective filter over the lens etc., they're all true so stop whining and get over it. It's great rectilinear glass that records without distortion. Great for landscape and architecture.

Big, expensive, bulging glass, heavy - but worth it at twice the cost. This completes the triumvirate of Nikon lenses including the f/2.8 of the 24-70 and the 70-200. All three are magnificent lenses for the professional or for the true photo enthusiast who simply wants to obtain the best images possible. Of course the lens will not make up for the owner's poor technique or poor composition. However, if you know what you are doing and truly appreciate quality in workmanship, design, and function, then this is the lens for you. On limited budgets, spend your money on glass first, then the camera body second. However, the marriage of this lens with a prosumer camera is a real treat to use. I use it with my new D-800 and am very impressed with the results and the satisfaction I experience from using quality equipment.

I have a Canon 7D outfit with the 10-22mm Cannon lens. Taken pictures with this Canon lens left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I never was satisfied with the focus of this lens. it just never looked as sharp as I thought it should. I've only done test shots with my new 14-24 mm Nikon lens and boy what a difference. This lens is sharp from corner to corner even wide open. I'm glad I'm back to the Nikon system and never plan on going back to Canon.
