Make sure you turn on the TRANSMITTER first, THEN power on the camera. On the speedlite flash, make sure the mode on the speedlite is set to M for Manual Mode, not E-TTL or any other setting. I would also recommend to press the TEST button on the transmitter to ensure the transmitter is communicating with the receiver and firing your flash.
