The Telescopic Support Arm with Rod Bloc from SHAPE is a variable length support arm designed to stabilize a shoulder rig while keeping the user mobile. The unit consists of a telescopic arm, Rod Bloc, and multi-function shoe which can be independently adjusted to the user's preference.

The telescopic arm is a simple aluminum support which may be adjusted at two points, from a minimum length of 14" to a maximum of 20". The top end of the rod is capped by an adjustable single-knob joint which supports and positions the CNC machined aluminum Rod Bloc—the attachment point for a shoulder-mounted rig. At the arm's base is an internal spring designed to provide added control when tilting vertically, allowing the user to capture a more stable image while in motion.

The bottom end of the telescopic arm is fitted with SHAPE's multi-function shoe—a cup-style base designed to rest against the user's torso or in a support belt for additional stability. If needed, the shoe may be removed so that the arm may be used as a boom, providing a connection point for a monitor, microphone, light, and more.

Q: 1. I have a Sony L-Series Twin Charger and wanted to know if it could charge these Shape L-Series batteries? Thank you!

A: Yes, The SHAPE NP-F980 would be able to charge using Sony brand chargers.

Q: 2. I bought this thing. There is no instructions included. The height doesn't adjust. It is not user friendly! Are there instructions online???

A: For help locating an instruction manual feel free to email us directly at askbh@bhphoto.com.

Q: 3. Why would I use the low-power charging mode? Is there any downside to the high power mode? I have this charger but don't know.

A: The SHAPE NP-F980 Dual Charger with Two 6600mAh Lithium-Ion Batteries (B&H# SHNPF2B) offers what the the manufacturer calls a high-current mode and also a low-current mode. While the voltage is the same, the former (high-current) would typically be used for larger batteries or for a faster charge. The latter (low-current) mode would be used for the smallest batteries (e.g., 2500mAh and below) or to minimize the heat that is generated when a battery is charged. While it is best to allow a battery to cool before recharging it at all, if you needed to begin charging a warm battery immediately after use then it would be best to use the low-current mode at least until it cools down. Extreme heat (and cold) can damage batteries.

Q: 4. Will this cage fit the updated 12g Video Assist monitor? I see that the new model is a basically 1/4” thicker.

A: Hello Robert, Thank you for your question! We cannot guarantee our cage for the 4K monitor will fit the new 12G one, as our cage was specifically designed for the 4K, especially if you tell us the new one is a bit thicker physically. We hope this helps and we thank you for your interest in our products. The SHAPE team.

Q: 5. How long does it take to charge 2x 65wh batteries?

A: These would take approximately 4 hours to charge.

Q: 6. The battery is charged via its D-tap port, and then when in use, the D-tap port can power a Ninja V for example--correct...?

A: Yes, the SHAPE BP-U100 Lithium-Ion Batteries support D-Tap outputs, and a 5V/2.1A USB-A port provide powering options for other accessories.

Q: 7. An article on 4kShooter said that this battery has a 12 volt output port (like the Powerextra batteries had before they changed the design). DOES THIS HAVE A 12v OUTPUT? Barrel connector? D-Tap?

A: Hello Steve, Thank you for your question! Unfortunately, it doesn't have a 12V output, no D-Tap or barrel connector either. Only a 5 Volt Micro-USB connector on the side. We hope this helps and we thank you for your interest in our products. The SHAPE team

Q: 8. How long does this charger take to charge the batteries? One by itself and both together.

A: In high-current mode, the SHAPE NP-F Dual-Bay Charger with LCD (B&H# SHNPFCH) will charge one 6600mAh Sony L-series type battery (popularly called "Sony NP-F") in about 4-5 hours. Also, in high-current mode, the time needed to charge two such batteries would be 8-10 hours.

Q: 9. Do these batteries work with Sony FX9? Thanks

A: Yes, these are BP-U style batteries, which the Sony FX9 are compatible with.

Q: 10. Will this grip fit the Nikon D90?

A: The SmallRig L-Shape Grip For Nikon Z FC will not fit the Nikon D90.

My bread an butter. Electronic Gimbals can fail and do not work in rain. Also without a 5th stabilizer axis the ability to flow with the glide is much better than the electronic ones. Each has it's place but this stabilizer has and will remain as my go to in the field.

I just bought a Canon 7D and wanted to get a professional look while shooting film. This is exactly what I was looking for. I found it extremely simple to set up and operate. The only downfall to my purchase would be that I should have bought the addition support system because the weight of the camera plus the weight of the Glidecam can get heavy over hours of shooting.

I am using this with my Canon 7D. This is my first steadycam device. It took 15min to balance. The adjustment screws make things so much easyer than just sliding the plate back and forth. I was off and running with this thing all around the house. Go to @ to watch a video on how to balance. I also balanced a JVC pro camcorder and it worked great. I purchased a manfrotto quick release plate to go with it for $50 and it works great going between tripod and Glidecam.

I received my Glidecam HD 2000 and had only one day to assemble and figure out how to use it before a shoot. I mounted my Sony HVR-A1U with a large battery and wide angle lens, using a Manfrotto quick release adapter (577). This kit includes the balance and docking bracket which is invaluable for balancing the unit. It would have taken forever to set up without it. It took about 15 minutes to set everything up to perfect balance. The manual is pretty good and with the help of a couple of videos found on youtube, everything went well. remember to tighten down all the bolts once you have finished your adjustments. I found the unit to be quite intuitive to use, and I was able to get surprisingly stable footage with very little practice. It will get even better with time I am sure. The forearm brace is pricey, but I found it to be very helpful for the length of time I was shooting. It also helped to reduce forearm fatigue and the tremors that follow. True, like others, I found it a tad warm after a while, but a little suffering is good for your art, no? having looked at the 2000 Pro, I found the extra expense of this HD unit is well worth the aggravation you will save yourself on the setup. I am very happy with this new piece of equipment. Now, if I could just figure out a clean way to mount my 7 monitor to the sled, I will be all set!

I use this product to do all sorts of video with my Canon 6D, and usually with lenses no longer than my 24-105. The Glidecam has extremely fluid motion, and keeps things weighted well when moving around. The only things I wish were different are: -The handle allows full motion in a vertical circle, but it doesn't let you lean the rig forward much at all. -The quick release plate could be quicker. - You need to use a second hand while shooting. Otherwise, the center mast (and camera) will begin to slightly rotate, depending on what you're doing.

Works great once balanced properly and finally there is the quick release plate so you can take the camera off when changing locations and pop it right back on without messing with a screw driver. It got me some great shots at a corporate event. I'm looking forward to buying the vest to go with it. I like that you can buy this and it will do the trick but then you can add the vest later so you won't get as worn out. It comes with all the screws, weights, and widgets necessary to start using it with your camera. Balancing it for me the first time took about 30 minutes. The second time went faster, maybe under 10 minutes. You do have to be careful if you balance it, put the quick release plate back on the original way, not backwards, because it can fit in either direction. Putting it in backwards will unbalance it and you might waste your time if you don't realize it just is put on backwards. All of these type of products strain wrists so I wouldn't consider that a negative - it just happens.
