The Schoeps CCM 4VP LG Compact Condenser Microphone (Side-Address Cardioid, Detachable Lemo to XLR-3M) is a miniaturization of classic condenser microphone technology, without a compromise in sonic quality. The microphone features the same capsule as the equivalent Collete Series microphone with comparable amplifier circuitry but in a much smaller length. The capsule and amplifier are inseparable within a single housing.

As a true condenser, the microphone delivers a low noise and distortion flat frequency response without the need for electronic frequency correction. Its small and lightweight form factor makes it appropriate for universal use including installed hanging applications. It can run on both +48V and +12V phantom power and be used with very long cables over 328' (100 m) in length.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Best wind shields for this? Both fluffy and wind shield?

A: The Sennheiser MZW-8000 Windscreen (BH #SEMZW8000) is the best choice of foam windscreen for the Sennheiser MKH 8040 Compact Cardioid Condenser Microphone. For higher wind scenarios, the Rycote Baseball Windscreen and Baseball Windjammer Combo Kit (0.7" Diameter Hole) (BH #RY039710) is a great solution.

Q: 2. How close does this need to be to the source? I have to film 3 people at once and was told I could boom a condenser or cardioid mic Can this plug directly into dslr of using battery power?

A: Close proximity (within .5 meter, .25 meter or less is better). This mic is designed for use on ONE person. While one could POTENTIALLY use with more than one person, it is NOT designed for that purpose. Additionally, a "Boom" Mic is typically designed to pick up only one person at a time. To use one microphone for 3 people, the room or environment would have to be very quiet. One Mic for each person is best, or, you may want to consider a "wider angle Boom Mic, such as those listed on B&H as "Stereo Shotgun Mics": https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/products/Shotgun/ci/8533/N/4291086008?filters=fct_stereo-mono_7426%3Astereo

Q: 3. What is the size and weight of this microphone?

A: As per the Manufacturer: CCM 41 LG Length: 46 mm Diameter: 20 mm Weight: 45 g

Q: 4. What is the mic diameter?

A: The PreSonus M7 Cardioid Condenser Microphone has a specified diameter of 2.13 inches.

Q: 5. does this need phantom power?

A: Yes, the CAD GXL1800 Side-Address Studio Condenser Microphone does require phantom power.

Q: 6. What is the self noise of the Blue Ember? I have been looking at tech specs on the Blue website and other sources and can't seem to find the stated self noise.

A: The manufacturer has not provided any specifications for self noise on the Blue Ember microphone. You can contact Blue Microphones directly to ask if they can provide this information to you. You can reach them by phone at 866-989-2583.

Q: 7. What dead cat will fit the M3? I have the Rode WS3 foam one already, looking for something to use outside.

A: The RODE M3 Versatile End-Address Condenser Microphone (BH # ROM3) will work with the WindTech Fur Fitted Microphone Windshield (B&H # WIMM600). The Mic-Muff on average provides up to 20db of wind-noise reduction in a 20 mph wind, while producing no negative effect on frequency response. Typically, this windshield can be fitted directly over the foam windscreen that came with your microphone or video camera, but some models may require placement over the microphone alone.

Q: 8. Would this work well for interviews on a boom? As well as off camera audio for YouTube videos? Thanks

A: It probably wouldn't work very well. It's not a shotgun it's just a condenser mic. It will not have the distance that a shotgun would. Nor will the polar pattern be the same.

Q: 9. I believe the capsule is exchangeable on this model. Where can I find them?

A: According to the manufacturer website, capsules are non interchangeable for this model microphone.

Q: 10. Having this microphone a built in amplifier does it require phantom power?

A: Yes, the Schoeps CCM 41 LG does require phantom power.
